Wish I could give 0 stars. I went to rma hoping to utilize a NYS grant which I was eligible for. The process dragged out for months waiting for my grant application results. I had my consultation in April and got my grant application approved in mid October. I was very excited and asked if there was any time line on it's use as I was expecting a Christmas bonus in December I hoped to utilize to pay the costs but could borrow from a family member if I needed to use before the end of the year. They assured me it was valid until the following September. I miraculously fell pregnant naturally in Nov a few weeks later and I called rma right away asking if they would be able to help get me on progesterone as I had a history of losses. They said they would not see me since I did not get pregnant through them which I understood. I miscarried that pregnancy and reached out to rma in Jan and they made me do another consultation which I had to pay out of pocket again. The consultation was supposedly to discuss my history since I'd had another loss but the consultation did not add anything to the conversation, Dr Pena said he would not do anything differently despite my recurrent losses and it was just luck of a good egg or not. I left the consultation feeling unsure about the situation bc he felt so dismissive but since I had the grant and no insurance coverage I decided to ignore my gut and move ahead. After some more back and fourth with the office trying to find out next steps I got a call in April that they would not work with me due to my age. I was shocked as my age had not changed and they'd taken 2 consult fees and numerous back and forth exchanges approved me for medical clearance and the grant and now told me I was not able to proceed. When I confronted the about where the grant money goes, the grant money NYS issued to them for my cycle which would now not be occurring they could not explain and when I asked who I could contact at NYS DOH then I got a call that they were going to do me a favor and let me use my grant out of the kindness of their hearts. This back and fourth brought us to April 15 2026, 1 yrs after my first consult, and they said now I needed to reapply for the grant bc it was a new tax season. Extremely frustrate I reapplied for a new grant and awaited the results to see if I would get approved or not since I'd gotten that Christmas bonus to put toward my ivf from my boas my income had now appeared higher and they were not sure if I would be over the income limit now. I have followed up for months. Since may. Phone calls and emails no responses or very delayed replies that they would follow up. It is not August 2026 4 months later, after telling me I was too old and would likely not even get any embryos bc I am 40, they wasted another 4 months of my time. I finally got a call today that I was approved for the grant and I was relieved until she said I would need to pay my total portion by TOMORROW in order to use the grant and if all treatment was not completed by Sept 30th I would become financially responsible. I do not see how they expect someone to have cash on hand to have it available in less the 24hrs notice and I honestly feel like they are running some sort of scam with the NYS grant at this point. The islip office is run down and dirty feeling, the Dr is dismissive and the staff are incompetent. The whole experience has felt like I had to beg them to let me be there and like I was discriminated against due to my age and I do not feel comfortable siging any contract with them at this point. Save yourself the trouble and go to island fertility in Commack to see Dr safier or if funds are tight go to CNY. Do not give these people your money or your time. They are not invested in the success of their patients or considerate of your time of finances. Even if this wasn't an already stressful emotional experience they would manage to make it so.

PLEASE READ – BEWARE!!! Our experience at RMA Fertility in Melville was, unfortunately, one of the worst healthcare experiences my wife and I have ever had. The only staff members who consistently treated us with professionalism and kindness were the phlebotomist, the front desk staff, and the ultrasound technicians. Our interactions with the billing department and our assigned nurse were the complete opposite. Throughout our IUI cycle, we experienced repeated communication failures and administrative mistakes. We were frequently told at the last minute that additional insurance or billing documentation was needed, sometimes on the day of appointments (CRYSTAL AND STEPHANIE). We also had to correct paperwork errors done by billing that should never have happened. Our assigned nurse LISA L. (Terrible) was consistently dismissive of our concerns. Important aspects of our treatment were not explained, including my wife’s trigger shot, which we were only informed about on the day it needed to be administered despite how time-sensitive it was. We were often told, “You’re young, you’ll be fine,” even though my wife has PCOS, which can significantly affect fertility. Instead of feeling heard, we felt our concerns were repeatedly brushed aside. Dr. Dickens was kind and professional whenever we saw her, but follow-ups were limited, and much of our communication went through the nursing staff. After our insemination, there was very little follow-up, leaving us questioning whether everything had been handled appropriately. The overall lack of communication, organization, and compassion made us leave feeling unheard and unsupported during one of the most emotional experiences of our lives. While I can’t say why we were treated the way we were, the experience left us questioning whether we were receiving the same level of care as other patients. Requesting our medical records after transferring our care was also frustrating. It took more than a week to receive them despite multiple follow-ups and inconsistent information about their status. One thing that stood out every time we visited was the atmosphere. The waiting room was often filled with women who appeared stressed, or crying. Fertility treatment is naturally emotional, but instead of feeling supported by the clinic, the overall environment only added to the anxiety. We have since transferred to Dr. Bradley Trivax, and the difference has been remarkable. The communication, professionalism, compassion, and overall patient care have been everything we expected from a fertility clinic. Fertility treatment is already emotionally exhausting. Patients should not have to deal with poor communication, repeated administrative mistakes, or feeling dismissed by the people responsible for their care. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend RMA Fertility in Melville ANYONE!!

Exactly one year ago we underwent the second round of IUI with Dr.Dicken and now we have a 14.5 week baby girl. We are very grateful. Dr. Dicken was very thorough, calm and professional. Prior to having this doctor, I was dealing with Dr. Pena, who was quite judgmental and dismissive. His IFV coordinator is the rudest and most unprofessional person I encountered in professional environment ever.

Avoid this clinic - Scheduling is impossible, front desk is unhelpful and not friendly. Had to chase them down for almost three weeks for report to be read and sent over to my doctor. This should be a place that is welcoming and helpful. Terrible experience

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Review for RMA of Long Island – Patchogue and Melville, NY Dr. Pena and staff are rockstars This was a rough and emotional day, with a major storm approaching and a very full waiting room — but the staff at RMA of Long Island made the entire experience feel calm, kind, and incredibly well-managed. I was originally scheduled for bloodwork and a sonogram on Sunday, 2/22/26. Due to the storm, my Monday appointment was proactively moved to Sunday to ensure patient safety — which I truly appreciated. When I walked in, I was greeted with a warm smile, even though the waiting room was packed with standing room only at one point. A wonderful staff member named Mary Lou came out and kindly asked that partners give up their seats for patients or wait in the car due to the crowd. Her tone was gracious and respectful, and the gentlemen immediately obliged. It was handled beautifully. I was then called back for bloodwork and greeted by Jess, who is always happy and smiling. Eliza explained the bloodwork clearly, let me know how many vials would be drawn, and asked how I was feeling — which truly helped ease my nerves. Even though there wasn’t immediate space available for my sonogram, she calmly coordinated next steps without making me feel rushed. Angela drew my blood, and I honestly could not believe how gentle she was — no pain at all. She was attentive, kind, and even asked about my day and whether I was ready for the storm. That small human touch meant so much. From the front desk (including the soft-spoken woman with long dreads who always greets my husband and me so warmly) to my sonogram, I was treated with patience and compassion. Despite the packed office, I was in and out in 39 minutes — which speaks volumes about the team’s efficiency and coordination. The IVF process can be incredibly unnerving, but the communication, warmth, and professionalism of Dr. Pena and his entire team make it so much easier to navigate. My coordinator Nicole A. Answers emails on off hours and Jess is in constant communication with me. Thank you, Dr. Pena, Jess, Mary Lou, Eliza, Angela, and the entire RMA Patchogue and Melville staff for going above and beyond. Your kindness truly makes a difference.

I am really cautious about writing negative reviews, but felt it was more important so I can help other women who are navigating what is already a big decision to make regarding egg retrieval/freezing. My gyn had discussed with me the idea of getting my eggs frozen, as I have a health condition that could affect fertility. She recommended RMA in Melville. Had an amazing consultation with Dr. Dicken. Felt very informed and felt confident about moving forward with the procedure. Because of several other health factors I have, my doctor wanted me to obtain medical clearance and the staff gave me clear instructions on how to proceed forward, or so I thought. I took the necessary steps I needed, including making an appointment with my PCP, to seek approval. I did not hear from RMA after my initial consult, despite telling me that the team would immediately get started on requesting approval from my insurance to get coverage for the procedure. I called the office 3 times and left voicemails/ message with the front desk and no one got back to me. It wasn’t until almost 3 months later that I was able to get connected with someone through email. In short, the administrative staff did not do what they were supposed to and failed to follow-up with me, which was stressful because a lot of the paperwork and testing I needed for the procedure was time-sensitive. The staff lacked accountability, and tried to make unnecessary and unreasonable requests from me which would further delay the process- I think much of this was to offset the fact that they were delayed. There was so much unprofessional back and forth communication through email, only to be told the following week that insurance wouldn’t cover my procedure. My condition is something that is not unique and is very often a reason why people decide to freeze eggs. I wasn’t surprised that insurance initially denied because that is the unfortunate nature of our health care system. But for RMA not to even suggest offering to do a peer to peer and jumping straight into asking me if I wanted to pay out of pocket, gave me the idea that they are not willing to advocate for me. My whole experience with them was emotionally overwhelming and stressful, and I would not recommend other people to them. UPDATE DECEMBER 2025: I wrote the above review almost a year ago. After speaking with my insurance, I got confirmation that RMA denied a peer to peer after getting denied (this is a red flag for me). I wanted to come back here to say that I ended up find a local small fertility clinic with an amazing team who advocated for me and worked with my insurance to get my egg retrieval procedure FULLY COVERED!!!! I can’t even fathom the idea that I would have paid RMA at least $14,000 for the same procedure, and for how intensive the process was, I would have been beyond stressed trying to get in touch with the clinic for support and to have questions answered. I strongly urge others to look into other options and compare clinics to make sure you are making the right decision. Thank goodness I did not follow-through with RMA.

Rude staff and horribly managed group. Calling for help is like pulling teeth.

My experience with Dr. Zinger and all clinical staff was beyond wonderful. I cannot say enough good things in that regard. I took off a star (and wish I could give zero stars alone) in regards to the billing department. If you do not have fertility coverage it’s as if they stamp your chart with a big fat “self-pay” stamp and wash their hands of even attempting to bill your insurance. They act as if you are uninsured and charge you top dollar in a way that’s almost criminal. There were several procedures and appointments I eventually got reimbursed for because my insurance did indeed cover some of the procedures that they charged full price for. They charged me 500 dollars for initial consult but it ended up only being 60 dollars through my insurance. 800 for saline sono that was also fully covered by insurance. I had to make my own calls and request these reimbursements myself. I’ve worked in healthcare for over ten years and have never seen anything like this. The kicker was when I wanted to return for a second embryo transfer and they wanted to charge me another 500 dollars to see the doctor again as a new patient. Are you kidding me? It was less than a year after having my son and I was considered a “new patient.” I refused to pay and made them send through my new insurance and the appointment was covered with a copay of only 30 dollars. Ironically, my new job also pays for IVF at another facility with 100% coverage. I have since transferred my embryos over to the new facility yet still get emails from RMA trying to charge me for embryo storage and the embryos aren’t even there anymore! Shame on them for trying to kick us when we are down. The financial burden is tough enough but for them to not even try to run our insurance is an actual crime in my opinion. So glad I don’t have to deal with that anymore. Although I’ve had success and a positive clinical experience at RMA I’d say for the reasons I mentioned to avoid if you don’t have IVF coverage or at least make your own phone calls to your insurance before coming here.

This place is like a machine and shows no emotions or connection with your fertility journey. The phlebotomists were kind to me which is why I gave two stars versus one.

There is no limit to our gratitude and respect to Dr Dicken for helping us with our fertility journey! Her kind heart, professionalism and support made our dream come true! The whole team was very friendly, supportive and kind. Thank you all for what you do!
