About
Dr. Poonsak Waikwamdee is one of the most experienced fertility physicians at Bumrungrad International Hospital, where he has practiced since the early days of assisted reproduction in Thailand. He graduated MD from Chulalongkorn University in 1982 and was certified by the Thai Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology in 1987.
He then completed international training that remains rare in the region: a fellowship in Assisted Human Reproduction in the United Kingdom (1989) and a Diploma in Surgical Pelviscopy from Kiel, Germany (1992). Across more than four decades he has covered essentially the entire interventional toolkit of a fertility center — from IUI and IVF/ICSI to surgical sperm retrieval and operative laparoscopy and hysteroscopy. He is also a co-author of hospital patient-education articles on conception and endometriosis pain.

Why Choose Dr. Poonsak Waikwamdee
Dr. Poonsak represents continuity across the whole treatment chain: the same physician can counsel a couple, perform ICSI micromanipulation decisions with the embryology team, operate laparoscopically when cysts or fibroids block conception, retrieve sperm surgically in azoospermic men, and then manage the resulting high-risk or recurrent-loss pregnancy. That combination of UK assisted-reproduction and German pelviscopy training with 40+ years at the bench and bedside is the hospital’s core expertise for recurrent pregnancy loss and complex male infertility.
Who It’s For
- Couples needing ICSI or PGD: micromanipulation-heavy programs, including genetic diagnosis before transfer.
- Men with azoospermia: evaluation and surgical sperm retrieval (PESA/TESE) with same-team IVF planning.
- Patients with recurrent miscarriage or high-risk pregnancies: structured loss workup and pregnancy management by a dedicated specialist.
