About Dr. James Toner
Dr. James Patrick Toner Jr., MD, PhD, is a nationally renowned infertility specialist at Emory University School of Medicine who has been in active clinical practice since 1991. A Philadelphia native, he graduated from St. Joseph’s College, then completed medical and doctorate degrees at the University of Pennsylvania through the Medical Scientist Training Program.
He received clinical training at the Jones Institute in Norfolk, Virginia — where the first IVF birth in the US occurred — subsequently joining its faculty for 10 years. During that time he studied ovarian reserve, endometrial receptivity, and luteal support, and trained some of the field’s current leaders. He later practiced privately in Atlanta before returning to academic medicine.
