About
Dr. Satu Kuokkanen is Associate Medical Director of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (REI) at NYU Langone Hospital – Long Island and a Clinical Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at NYU Grossman Long Island School of Medicine. She is one of the lead physicians at NYU Langone Reproductive Specialists of New York in Mineola.
Dr. Kuokkanen graduated from the University of Helsinki Medical School (1992) and earned a PhD in genetics there in 1998 — the scientific fascination with “diagnosing genetic diseases and screening embryos for chromosomes prior to gestation” is what drew her into reproductive medicine. She completed OB/GYN residency at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and Montefiore Medical Center, then her REI fellowship at Montefiore (2008). She holds dual board certification in Obstetrics & Gynecology (2007) and Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility (2010).
Alongside clinical care, she continues research on endometrial receptivity and the implantation process, translating new findings into patient care.

Why Choose Dr. Satu Kuokkanen
A clinician-scientist: the dual training of MD plus genetics PhD gives her unusual scientific rigor in PGT and embryo genetics — a particular asset for carriers of genetic conditions and patients with repeated failure.
Frontline implantation research: her ongoing study of why embryos fail to implant directly benefits patients with repeated implantation failure.
Respects your values: as she states in her profile, she develops treatment options that fit each patient’s ethical, religious, and personal lifestyle beliefs, building long-term trust.
Positive patient experience on record: Google reviews for the Mineola practice credit her directly — one patient wrote that “Dr. Kuokkanen did my retrieval … our first cycle and transfer was a success and our daughter is 3 weeks old” (2025).
