Ovulation Calculator

Calculate your ovulation day and fertile window based on last menstrual period and cycle length

days

Ovulation day = cycle length − 14 days (counted from the first day of your last period)

How does this calculator work?

  1. 1 Enter the first day of your last menstrual period
  2. 2 Adjust your cycle length (default 28 days)
  3. 3 See your estimated ovulation day and best conception window

How Is Ovulation Calculated?

Ovulation day = cycle length − 14, counted from the first day of your last period. Since ovulation usually happens 14 days before the next period, a 28-day cycle means ovulation on day 14 and a 30-day cycle on day 16.

The fertile window is 6 days long: the 5 days before ovulation plus the day after. Sperm survive 3–5 days inside the body while an egg lives only 12–24 hours after release, so chances peak in the 2 days before ovulation.

Stress, illness, travel and lifestyle can shift ovulation earlier or later. With irregular cycles, combine basal body temperature, LH kits, and cervical mucus monitoring instead of calendar math alone.

Light spotting during ovulation is normal, typically lasting 1–2 days, and reflects hormone level changes. If bleeding is heavy or prolonged, see your doctor.

What Is the Ovulation Formula?

Ovulation usually occurs 14 days before the next period. In a 28-day cycle you ovulate on day 14; in a 30-day cycle, on day 16.

Ovulation day = cycle length − 14

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the predicted ovulation day exact?

How can I pinpoint ovulation more accurately?
Combine basal body temperature tracking, LH ovulation predictor kits, and cervical mucus observation.
How do I calculate ovulation with irregular cycles?
Subtract 14 from your shortest cycle for the earliest likely day and from your longest cycle for the latest; the range between is your possible ovulation window.
Is ovulation bleeding normal?
