About
Abby Eblen has been a Nashville Fertility Center physician since 2002, and her fellowship syllabus explains why she is the practice’s surgeon as much as its IVF doctor: at the University of Louisville she trained in laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery, tubal reversal and myomectomy next to assisted reproductive technology, not instead of it. She is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology and subspecialty-certified in reproductive endocrinology and infertility.
Her training path starts at home in Tennessee. Eblen earned her medical degree at the University of Tennessee Center for the Health Sciences, where she was invited into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor medical society and won the Upjohn Achievement Award, then completed OB/GYN residency at the University of Florida before the Louisville fellowship. She stayed on the Louisville faculty as an assistant professor — publishing papers and collecting a Society for Gynecologic Investigation research award, a National Faculty Award and an APGO teaching award — before joining Nashville Fertility Center.
She sees patients at the Nashville and Franklin offices. Her stated approach treats infertility as both an emotional and a physical problem, which is how the clinic describes her patient handling: “she recognizes the importance of the emotional as well as the physical aspects of infertility, and strives to treat the patient with both in mind.”
Clinical Expertise
- IVF: full-cycle management — stimulation, monitoring, retrieval and transfer — within a SART-reporting program that ran 1,822 cycles in 2023
- Laparoscopic fertility surgery: fibroid removal (myomectomy) through keyhole approaches rather than open surgery
- Tubal reversal: reanastomosis for patients who changed their minds after ligation, one of the named focuses of her fellowship training
- Hysteroscopic surgery: uterine cavity evaluation and correction of factors that block implantation
- PCOS management: ovulation induction and long-range endocrine care, carried from fellowship through practice
- IUI: the clinic’s first-line treatment tier, timed or medicated
Why Choose Dr. Eblen
Twenty-plus years in one clinic. She has practiced at Nashville Fertility Center since 2002 — patients here can find long follow-through on the same physician across multiple treatment paths.
A reproductive surgeon inside an IVF practice. Few clinics hand you one physician for both the laparoscope and the stimulation protocol. Her fellowship explicitly covered laparoscopy, hysteroscopy, tubal reversal and myomectomy alongside ART.
Awarded in both research and teaching. The SGI research award and National Faculty Award mark the science; the APGO teaching award marks the explaining. Both matter when a plan needs to be understood, not just signed.
Board certification at two levels. Certified in OB/GYN, then subspecialty-certified in reproductive endocrinology and infertility — the full American pathway to calling yourself a fertility specialist.
Professional Affiliations
Invited to Alpha Omega Alpha during medical school at the University of Tennessee; member of the Society for Gynecologic Investigation, which gave her an early research award. She published from her Louisville years while serving on the faculty there, and rounds out the academic record with the Upjohn Achievement Award (medical school), National Faculty Award, and an APGO (Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics) teaching award.
Suitable For
- PCOS patients who want ovulation induction, IVF and surgical options managed by one physician rather than split between departments
- Fibroid-related infertility: candidates for myomectomy who would rather have the surgery done by someone who also runs their transfer cycles
- After tubal ligation: reversal consults, with an ART alternative available in the same clinic if surgery is not the better route
- First-cycle IVF and IUI patients who value a doctor known for addressing the emotional side of treatment alongside the clinical one
