About
Dr. Alexis Melnick stayed inside one training system on purpose — and it is the system behind New York’s top-ranked fertility center. She completed OB/GYN residency at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell, then the reproductive endocrinology and infertility fellowship at the Ronald O. Perelman and Claudia Cohen Center for Reproductive Medicine, and joined CRM’s faculty as an assistant professor. Patients see her at the East 68th Street office she covers and at the Upper East Side main site, in person or by video visit.
Before medicine, she studied the Biological Basis of Behavior and Hispanic Studies at the University of Pennsylvania, graduating Summa Cum Laude with election to Phi Beta Kappa — an unusual pairing that became a clinical asset: she provides care in fluent Spanish and reads her patients’ cultural context as well. At NYU School of Medicine she joined Alpha Omega Alpha, the national medical honor society.
Her clinical scope spans the reproductive lifespan: ovulation induction, IUI, IVF, preimplantation genetic testing, donor eggs, fertility preservation and egg freezing, recurrent pregnancy loss, reproductive endocrine disorders, and menopause management. She also operates — laparoscopic and hysteroscopic treatment of endometrial and ovarian disease.
Clinical Expertise
- IVF: stimulation design, monitoring, retrieval and transfer, with individualized protocols by age and diagnosis
- Ovulation Induction and IUI: oral and injectable medications with ultrasound-timed insemination for ovulatory and unexplained infertility
- Fertility Preservation / Egg Freezing: elective and medical freezing through CRM’s vitrification program
- PGT Counseling: guidance for couples at risk of chromosomal or single-gene conditions deciding whether to screen embryos
- Donor Eggs: matching and cycle management within CRM’s long-running donor egg program
- Menopause Management: hormone therapy and endocrine care across the menopausal transition
- Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery: laparoscopy and hysteroscopy for endometriosis, cysts and intrauterine pathology
Why Choose Dr. Melnick
Spanish-speaking care from a Hispanic Studies graduate. Language access with cultural fluency matters most exactly when consent forms and cycle calendars get complicated.
Fellowship-trained in the center where she now practices. Her entire subspecialty formation ran inside CRM’s lab and clinic culture — the CAP/CLIA in-house testing ecosystem she orders from.
Highest academic honors at every stage. Summa Cum Laude plus Phi Beta Kappa at Penn, Alpha Omega Alpha at NYU School of Medicine.
One physician across life stages. Egg freezing, IVF and menopause management can stay with the same clinician rather than three offices.
