About
Eight years in the Air Force Academy’s gynecology clinic gave Alisia (Lisa) Ortiz a patient population most fertility clinicians never see: service members and their families, often newly arrived in Colorado, with frequent moves and coverage that changes with the assignment. She now works the same continuity problem from the fertility side — cycles that cannot be rescheduled because a family’s next duty station is somewhere else.
Her route into that role was obstetric rather than reproductive. After her nursing degree at the University of Maryland she worked as a registered nurse in obstetric wards, then completed the women’s health nurse practitioner master’s program at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus and earned board certification in that specialty (WHNP-BC) — certification scoped specifically to gynecologic and reproductive care.
At the Lone Tree office she is one of the clinicians patients actually see most often. The practice’s reproductive endocrinologists make the diagnosis and write the stimulation protocol; Ortiz carries the visits around it — monitoring appointments, IUI procedures, endometrial biopsies, the risk-factor history and physical examination that precede an IVF cycle, and the teaching visit where injections and the treatment calendar get walked through before medications start.
Clinical Expertise
- Intrauterine insemination: performs IUI procedures during treatment cycles
- Endometrial biopsy: office sampling of the uterine lining ordered in a fertility evaluation
- Cycle monitoring and teaching: ultrasound and lab scheduling, medication review, injection training before a cycle begins
- IVF intake examinations: risk-factor assessment and physical exam as the pre-treatment workup closes
- Women’s health scope: board certification covering gynecologic care, preconception counseling and reproductive health across the lifespan
- Military and mobile families: eight years inside the Air Force Academy gynecology clinic, providing care to service members and their families
Why Choose Alisia (Lisa) Ortiz
A women’s health credential, earned locally. The WHNP-BC is scoped to reproductive and gynecologic care, and she completed the program at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus.
Eight years in a military clinic. Patients arriving at a Denver-area fertility practice from an assignment elsewhere have histories that move between systems; she has spent years inside that pattern.
One office, one clinician. Monitoring, teaching and procedures for a cycle run through the same nurse practitioner rather than rotating, which is where the continuity in a cycle comes from. Our sources do not date her arrival at CCRM.
Procedures plus teaching. IUIs and biopsies on one side, injection training and calendar review on the other — the same clinician across both.
