About
Twenty years of practice, an MD and a separate MBA in health management, and a nickname that stuck: popular press coverage has called Dr. Andy Huang the “IVF Magician,” and Vogue ran a profile on him. He treats at Reproductive Partners Medical Group’s Beverly Hills campus. His clinical center of gravity is the part of IVF where protocols have to be built rather than picked off a shelf — repeated failure, endometriosis, PCOS, and infertility with a genetic component.
He trained on the East Coast and went home. Northwestern gave him a double bachelor’s in biological sciences and economics; Tufts School of Medicine gave him the MD and, in 2001, the MBA in health management. He completed obstetrics and gynecology residency at Tufts in 2003, then a three-year Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility fellowship at UCLA, finishing in 2006 and taking the Outstanding Laparoendoscopic Award during that training — a surgical credential that matters for the endometriosis and pelvic-pathology patients who need laparoscopy before, not after, a retrieval. His stated reason for the westward move was to practice in the Southern California community he was born in.
His published work runs across IVF technique, the genetic contribution to infertility, stem cell development, endometriosis and PCOS. Recognition is steady rather than singular: repeated Top Ten Doctor, Best Doctors, Patients’ Choice and Compassionate Doctor designations, on top of the Vogue feature and the “IVF Magician” tag his patients use. What those awards do not tell you is the practical one — at RPMG, patients can be monitored at Beverly Hills, Torrance or Long Beach, and Irvine through the affiliate, so continuity with Huang does not require a commute to one zip code.
Clinical Expertise
- IVF cycle design: ovarian stimulation, monitoring, sedated retrieval, fertilization and transfer planning, with protocol adjustments built around prior cycle response
- PGT-A and genetic infertility: embryo chromosome screening for patients whose history points to a genetic or recurrent-failure cause, decided alongside the practice’s outside genetics laboratory
- ICSI for male factor: single-sperm injection when semen parameters or prior fertilization failure make insemination the wrong tool
- Endometriosis-associated infertility: laparoscopic assessment and surgery — the area his fellowship award recognizes — folded into the reproductive plan rather than treated as a separate operation
- PCOS and ovulatory dysfunction: stimulation strategies that manage hyper-response risk while still yielding usable eggs
- Stem cell and reproductive biology research: published work in developmental biology that informs how he discusses embryo potential with patients facing poor prognosis
Why Choose Dr. Andy Huang
Two decades on the hard cases. Twenty years is long enough to have seen a protocol fail twice and to know which variable to change. His practice concentrates in the diagnoses where standard stimulation underperforms: endometriosis, PCOS, genetic infertility and repeat IVF failure.
Trained as a surgeon, not only a prescriber. The Outstanding Laparoendoscopic Award from his UCLA fellowship years puts laparoscopic skill in the same room as the cycle plan, which is where endometriosis patients need it.
He holds the business degree as well as the medical one. A Tufts MBA in health management is unusual on a fertility roster, and it shows up in what patients care about: cost structure, what a package actually covers, and which line items are negotiable.
Recognition from patients and from print. Patients’ Choice and Compassionate Doctor awards plus Vogue coverage and the “IVF Magician” label describe a physician who explains things in a way people repeat to each other.
Professional Affiliations
Board-certified in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. American Society for Reproductive Medicine and American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists membership is the standard framework for reproductive endocrinology practice in the United States; his published research spans IVF, infertility genetics, stem cell development, endometriosis and PCOS. He is on staff at Reproductive Partners Medical Group, a SART-member practice (clinic ID 2254) with a CAP-accredited embryology laboratory, and a member of the physician group whose practice joined the Ivy Fertility network in 2021.
Suitable For
- Patients with endometriosis who are deciding between surgery and straight-to-IVF: he operates and runs cycles
- PCOS patients worried about hyperstimulation: stimulation plans that trade egg count against safety
- Anyone with a genetic question behind the infertility: carrier issues, recurrent loss, PGT-A decision-making
- Two or more failed IVF cycles at another clinic: the group’s 3,302-cycle 2023 volume means prior records get reviewed against a lot of internal experience
- Patients who want the reasoning: injection teaching, cycle calendars and cost lines explained in the same visit
