About

About

Anish Shah, M.D., MHS is a board-certified reproductive endocrinologist at Shady Grove Fertility - Richmond and Practice Director for Southern Virginia, overseeing care at the Henrico, Stony Point and Roanoke locations. He earned his undergraduate degree in Public Health from UNC Chapel Hill, worked in Nicaragua improving women’s and children’s healthcare, then earned his medical degree at the Medical College of Virginia.

Dr. Shah spent nearly a decade at Duke University, completing his OB/GYN residency and a 3-year REI fellowship while also earning a Master’s in Health Economics and Clinical Research. He trained with national leaders in minimally invasive surgery and, as chief resident, participated in the first single-incision laparoscopic procedure in the Southeast. His research focuses on reducing miscarriage rates and improving IVF safety, including comprehensive chromosomal screening (CCS) of embryos.

Dr. Shah and his wife experienced infertility themselves and now have two children through IVF. Guided by the philosophy that “every patient is like a member of my family,” he has been named a Richmond Magazine “Top Doc” (2013-2023, 2025, 2026) and voted “Best Bedside Manner” by OurHealth Richmond (2015-2018). He serves as the primary physician liaison for Race for Parenthood, a 5K fundraising run for couples in need of assisted reproduction.
