About

About

Carrie Bedient, MD co-authored The IVF Blueprint (Little, Brown Spark, 2025), a patient-facing walkthrough of the whole IVF process, and she co-hosts the Fertility Docs Uncensored podcast. Both projects point in the same direction: she spends a lot of her professional energy translating reproductive medicine for the people paying for it. She is also, on the clinic’s account, southern Nevada’s first female board-certified reproductive endocrinologist, and she joined The Fertility Center of Las Vegas in 2023, when the practice went from one REI physician to three.

Her training follows the full route: OB/GYN first, then the reproductive endocrinology subspecialty. Undergraduate at Washington University in St. Louis, MD at the University of Arizona College of Medicine, residency with Case Western Reserve University at MetroHealth Medical Center and the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, and a reproductive endocrinology and infertility fellowship at Emory. She is dual board-certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology in OB/GYN and in REI, with advanced training in minimally invasive robotic and laparoscopic surgery — which is why she is the surgeon as well as the cycle doctor for patients who need a uterine septum corrected, an endometriosis excision, or a myomectomy before transfer.

She directs reproductive endocrinology and infertility for the MountainView OB/GYN residency and holds a clinical associate professorship at UNLV’s Kirk Kerkorian College of Medicine, working with medical students, residents and fellows, and she lectures to audiences that include lawyers, nurses, trainees and schoolchildren. Her published work appears in Fertility & Sterility and the American Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology and covers frozen versus fresh embryo transfer, robotics in reproductive surgery, adolescent fertility preservation, and robotic versus laparoscopic myomectomy. Named interests: preserving fertility for patients about to undergo toxic therapy such as chemotherapy, third-party reproduction for same-sex couples and LGBT individuals, and minimally invasive correction of uterine anomalies and endometriosis. She practices in English.

Clinical Expertise

  • Fertility preservation before gonadotoxic therapy: egg, sperm and embryo freezing scheduled ahead of chemotherapy, radiation or bone marrow transplant, including adolescent cases and patients planning gender-affirming surgery or hormone therapy
  • Third-party reproduction: donor egg, donor sperm and gestational carrier cycles for female couples, male couples, single patients and international intended parents, including reciprocal IVF where one partner provides the eggs and the other carries
  • Minimally invasive reproductive surgery: robotic and laparoscopic treatment of uterine anomalies, endometriosis and fibroids, with published comparison work on robotic versus laparoscopic myomectomy
  • IVF cycle management: stimulation, monitoring, retrieval and day-5 blastocyst transfer within a freeze-all program, with PGT where indicated
  • Reproductive endocrinology: ovulation induction and workup for irregular cycles, PCOS and unexplained infertility
  • Surgical and laboratory coordination at one site: hysteroscopy, retrieval and transfer all performed in the practice’s dedicated surgical suites

Why Choose Dr. Carrie Bedient

She wrote the patient’s guide to the process she practices. The IVF Blueprint exists because the sequence of injections, scans, retrievals and transfers is genuinely hard to picture from the outside. Ask her the question a consent form would not answer, and she has already structured it for print.

Board-certified twice over, and she operates. OB/GYN certification plus REI subspecialty certification, with residency awards for excellence in reproductive endocrinology and research and for best laparoscopic and endoscopic surgeon, on top of advanced training in minimally invasive robotic and laparoscopic surgery. At a center where most pathology is treated with medications and a catheter, having the surgeon in the same building removes a referral.

National award recognition in her subspecialty. The Khalid Ataya Excellence in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Award, two Pacific Coast Reproductive Society research awards, a PCRS scholarship and a best-research-proposal award during fellowship, and Gold Humanism Honor Society induction in medical school. Locally she has been on the Vegas Inc Top Doctors list every year since 2018 and was named a Las Vegas 40 under 40 honoree.

LGBT family building is a stated focus, not an accommodation. She holds an LGBTQ ally award and lists third-party reproduction for same-sex couples and individuals as a special interest. The clinic’s own practice statement says its care is inclusive of all men and women regardless of gender, sexual orientation, race, country of origin or marital status. She has also been described by the clinic as a champion of reproductive freedom.

She teaches the next cohort. As director of REI for the MountainView OB/GYN residency and a clinical associate professor at UNLV’s medical school, her protocols get scrutinized by trainees and program faculty, not only by her own staff.

Professional Affiliations

American Society for Reproductive Medicine; Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology; American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists; Pacific Coast Reproductive Society. Board-certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Obstetrics and Gynecology and in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. Publications in Fertility & Sterility and the American Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology alongside book chapters and conference abstracts, with work presented on frozen versus fresh transfer, reproductive robotics, adolescent preservation and myomectomy approach. Awards include the Khalid Ataya Excellence in REI Award, two PCRS research awards, residency honors in reproductive endocrinology and research, best laparoscopic and endoscopic surgeon, and Vegas Inc Las Vegas Top Doctors recognition annually from 2018 — in 2025 she and Dr. Bruce Shapiro were, per the clinic, the only Las Vegas fertility specialists on that list. Guest appearances on regional broadcast and podcasts, including her own.

Suitable For

  • A new cancer diagnosis on the calendar: preservation before treatment starts is time-limited, and it is one of her named interests, including for adolescent patients
  • Female and male couples, transgender patients and single parents by choice: donor egg, donor sperm, reciprocal IVF and gestational carrier pathways, with an LGBTQ ally award behind the interest
  • Endometriosis, uterine septum, fibroids or adhesions in the way of a transfer: surgical correction by the same physician who will manage the cycle, using robotic or laparoscopic approach
  • Patients who want the plan explained rather than asserted: the co-author of a patient IVF guide and co-host of a fertility podcast
  • Complex cases needing coordination: third-party cycles, international patients and multi-step surgical-plus-IVF sequences at a single site

Best For

Patients facing chemotherapy, radiation or other gonadotoxic therapy who want to freeze eggs, sperm or embryos first Same-sex couples, LGBT individuals and single patients building families through donation or a gestational carrier Endometriosis and uterine anomalies needing minimally invasive surgical correction Patients who want a day-5 frozen single embryo transfer plan explained in plain language Adolescent fertility preservation before gender-affirming treatment
