About
Dr. Chung-Yi Chen is Vice President of Maosheng Fertility Center (Lee Women’s Hospital) in Taichung, with direct responsibility for the Reproductive Medicine Department. His career has taken him across some of the world’s best-known fertility centers: he began as an attending physician at Chung Shan Medical University Hospital in Taiwan, then held attending roles at the Endoscopy Center of Kawasaki Hospital in Japan, the Bourn Hall Clinic in the United Kingdom, and the reproductive center of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel in Belgium.
Bourn Hall is where the world’s first test-tube baby, Louise Brown, was conceived through IVF — working there gave Dr. Chen hands-on experience of the classical IVF pathway at its birthplace. His Belgian appointment adds first-hand exposure to European ovarian-stimulation protocols and laparoscopic techniques. Together, this four-country profile makes him a rare internationally socialized reproductive physician in Taiwan.
At Maosheng he focuses on infertility, reproductive endocrinology, general gynecology and obstetrics, and is a core member of the team serving international patients, designing protocols that connect smoothly with treatment records from other countries.
Clinical Expertise
- Infertility and IVF: protocol design informed by both Bourn Hall and Vrije Universiteit Brussel school-of-thought standards
- Reproductive endocrinology: hormone evaluation and stimulation planning enriched by multi-country practice comparisons
- Endoscopic surgery: laparoscopy and hysteroscopy training from Kawasaki Hospital’s endoscopy center, supporting surgical causes of infertility
- Obstetrics: continuity of care from a successful IVF pregnancy through antenatal follow-up
Why Choose Dr. Chung-Yi Chen
Battle-tested at the world’s first IVF clinic. Bourn Hall Clinic, the birthplace of IVF itself, is where Dr. Chen served as an attending physician — an experience almost unheard of among Taiwan reproductive physicians and a guarantee of classical, text-book IVF process discipline.
Three-continent protocol fluency. Working in Japan, the UK and Belgium means he has compared stimulation protocols, lab standards and patient-management styles first-hand, so treatment plans are not locked into a single national school.
Executive-level quality oversight. As hospital Vice President he carries direct managerial responsibility for Maosheng’s CAP- and ISO 15189-accredited laboratories, so patients’ embryo culture and cryopreservation safety are protected at the governance level.
