Maosheng Fertility Center (Lee Women’s Hospital) — IVF in Taichung & New Taipei, Taiwan
About Maosheng Fertility Center
Maosheng Fertility Center is the assisted-reproduction division of Lee Women’s Hospital (Maosheng Hospital), a fertility-specialty hospital in Taichung, Taiwan. The institution’s roots go back to 1987, when founder Prof. Lee Mao-Sheng led the team at Zhong-Shan Medical University Hospital that delivered Taiwan’s first test-tube baby completed entirely by a local medical team. The practice evolved into a clinic in 1994 and was upgraded to Lee Women’s Hospital in December 2015, passing the Taiwan Ministry of Health and Welfare hospital accreditation in 2016. A second campus in Banqiao (New Taipei City) opened in 2024, and a Zhubei branch near the Hsinchu Science Park is under construction.
The center reports more than 40,000 babies born through its program for families from 38 countries (official hospital figures). On its annual-milestones page the hospital cites an average IVF success rate of about 65.1% as of 2022, and a 2018 report from Taiwan’s National Health Administration counted 4,883 ART cycles performed at the hospital — the highest cycle volume of any institution in Taiwan that year. These are self-reported, aggregate figures; the hospital does not publish age-specific live-birth tables, so individual outcomes vary with age, ovarian reserve, semen quality and diagnosis. The dedicated international patient team has supported overseas patients for more than 20 years with Mandarin, English and Japanese service. Patient reviews on Google Maps (listing “Maosheng Fertility Center, Lee Women’s Hospital”) show a 4.5-star rating from 2,920 reviews as of September 2026.
The Taichung headquarters integrates obstetrics and pediatrics alongside reproductive medicine, so prenatal care and delivery can continue in-house after a successful pregnancy.

Patient Journey
- Inquiry and booking — overseas patients contact the international medical team (WeChat/WhatsApp/email channels listed on the hospital site); appointments at the Taichung headquarters or Banqiao campus are confirmed with your records in advance
- First-visit evaluation in Taiwan — bring prior charts and test results; the initial visit includes a consultation plus baseline infertility work-up (hormone panel, AMH, ultrasound, semen analysis)
- Personalized protocol — treatment starts on cycle day 1-3, with ovarian stimulation and ultrasound monitoring in Taichung or Banqiao
- Retrieval and embryology — ultrasound-guided egg retrieval under the hospital’s pairing-verified Witness system; IVF/ICSI fertilization, time-lapse culture and AI-assisted embryo grading; PGT-A/PGT-M on site when indicated
- Transfer and pregnancy test — embryo transfer about 3-5 days after retrieval, with a blood pregnancy test roughly two weeks later
- Prenatal care and follow-up — patients who stay deliver through the hospital’s own obstetrics and pediatrics departments; patients returning home get remote follow-up, with prenatal care continued locally
Local Legal Framework
Assisted reproduction in Taiwan is governed by the Artificial Reproduction Act, regulated by the National Health Administration under the Ministry of Health and Welfare:
- Eligibility: ART (IVF, ICSI, donor insemination, donor egg) is legally restricted to a married man-and-woman couple
- Gamete donation: egg and sperm donation is permitted only through government-approved channels with anonymous, authority-managed matching — recipients may not choose a donor by identity, and donors may not be relatives within the fourth degree of kinship; compensation is capped by law
- Sex selection: embryo sex selection for non-medical reasons is prohibited; PGT-M is allowed to prevent serious hereditary disease
- Surrogacy: commercial and altruistic surrogacy remain illegal under current law; legislative efforts were still in progress as of 2026
- Egg freezing: cryopreserved eggs are limited to a 10-year storage period, renewable, with mandatory reporting to the authorities
- Subsidies: the NHI-administered ART subsidy program offsets part of IVF costs for qualifying couples
Overseas patients should confirm their eligibility (including marriage-certificate requirements) with the international patient center before traveling.
