About

About

Dr. Tan Chong Seong is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist and fertility specialist at Alpha IVF & Women’s Specialists in Kota Damansara. He graduated in medicine from the National University of Malaysia (UKM) in 2005, completed his houseman internship at Kuala Lumpur General Hospital, and went on to obtain his specialist qualification from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (MRCOG), United Kingdom.

Before concentrating fully on assisted reproduction, he served as an O&G Specialist at Kuala Lumpur General Hospital — Malaysia’s largest public hospital — and at Hospital Kluang in Johor, managing high-volume obstetric and gynaecological work including high-risk pregnancies. He also taught medical students, housemen and postgraduates as an Honorary Lecturer at the International Medical University (IMU) and MAHSA University, and contributed to teaching and research in reproductive medicine and minimally invasive surgery.

He joined Alpha IVF to focus on helping couples with infertility, and remains active in regional reproductive medicine meetings and volunteer clinic work.

Clinical Expertise

  • Systematic female infertility evaluation: fertility workups, ovulation monitoring, tubal patency assessment and endocrine screening, translated into an individualised treatment plan
  • Male infertility screening: semen analysis interpretation, diagnosis of male factor infertility, and appropriate referral to IUI, IVF or ICSI pathways within the centre
  • Infertility with coexisting gynaecological disease: surgical assessment and management of endometrial polyps, fibroids and ovarian cysts that impair conception, linked seamlessly into fertility treatment
  • High-risk pregnancy background: his public-hospital obstetric experience adds a safety-first perspective to preconception assessment and early pregnancy care

Why Choose Dr. Tan

Dr. Tan’s MRCOG certification means his obstetrics and gynaecology knowledge and clinical skills have been examined against the UK standard across the whole specialty — a foundation that lets him evaluate infertility as a gynaecological problem, not just an ART workflow. His years at Kuala Lumpur General Hospital exposed him to an extremely wide case load, from routine gynaecology to complex high-risk obstetrics, which sharpens pattern recognition in atypical infertility cases.

His teaching roles at IMU and MAHSA University translate directly into patient care: he is accustomed to explaining complex reproductive concepts clearly and patiently. He consults in English and Chinese, and Alpha IVF’s Chinese-speaking coordinators support Mandarin-speaking patients through every stage, removing the language barrier for patients from China and other Chinese-speaking communities.

Certifications

  • Member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (MRCOG), United Kingdom
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD), National University of Malaysia (UKM), 2005

Suitable For

  • Chinese-speaking patients: local and international patients who want consultations, counselling and treatment explanations in Mandarin from first visit through transfer
  • Couples needing a full joint workup: systematic evaluation of both female and male factors — ovarian reserve, ovulation, tubal status, semen analysis — before choosing IUI, IVF or ICSI
  • Patients whose infertility coexists with gynaecological pathology: endometrial polyps, fibroids or ovarian cysts can be assessed and treated surgically within the same facility before embryo transfer
  • Patients who value obstetric safety experience: those wanting a specialist with high-risk pregnancy training involved in their preconception and early pregnancy management
