About

About

Cheri Margolis, M.D. came into reproductive medicine through chemistry. She graduated with honors from the University of Florida Honors Program with a B.S. in chemistry, concentrating in biochemistry and minoring in business administration, then stayed at Florida for her M.D. During medical school she took a research scholarship at the University of Pennsylvania evaluating synthetic environmental estrogen mimics — endocrine-disrupting compounds — and credits that work with drawing her toward reproductive endocrinology.

She left Florida for the Northeast to complete her obstetrics and gynecology residency at New York Presbyterian Hospital-Weill Cornell in New York City, where the program gave her awards for excellence in obstetrics and for excellence in medical education. Her reproductive endocrinology and infertility fellowship was at Reproductive Medicine Associates of New Jersey, which the clinic describes as one of the largest and busiest IVF programs in the world. She took embryologist training alongside that fellowship, so the laboratory side of a cycle — culture, fertilization, vitrification, biopsy — is something she has done herself, not only ordered.

Her declared interests are infertility and IVF, fertility preservation, LGBTQIA+ family planning, PCOS, and preimplantation genetic testing. She reports more than 50 oral and poster presentations to date at national and international meetings including ASRM, PCRS and ESHRE, with research spanning fertility preservation, IVF outcomes and preimplantation genetic testing. She is one of two reproductive endocrinologists on Boca Fertility’s physician roster, and the clinic’s stated model is that a patient is followed by one doctor rather than a rotation. She consults and treats patients in English.

Clinical Expertise

  • IVF and ICSI — stimulation protocol design, monitoring, retrieval and frozen transfer in a program that vitrifies all blastocysts and transfers them in later cycles, one embryo at a time as a rule
  • Fertility preservation and egg freezing — one of her named research interests; vitrification of eggs or embryos before medical treatment or before age-related decline, including counselling on how many eggs to freeze and on the drop in success after 38
  • LGBTQIA+ family building — a declared interest: donor sperm IUI, IVF with donor sperm or donor eggs, reciprocal (co-maternity) IVF where one partner provides the eggs and the other carries, and gestational carrier paths
  • Preimplantation genetic testing — PGT-A for chromosome number and PGT-M for single-gene conditions, an area of her published research and of the clinic’s in-house biopsy workflow
  • PCOS and ovulatory disorders — listed among her interests; stimulation in high responders is where OHSS risk and trigger choice (the clinic increasingly uses a Lupron trigger for that reason) come together
  • Male factor infertility — the practice lists high-complexity semen analysis among its diagnostics, and ICSI decisions sit inside her IVF workflow

Why Choose Dr. Cheri Margolis

Double board certification. She is certified in obstetrics and gynecology and in reproductive endocrinology and infertility — the full US training pathway to specialist status, not just the residency.

Cornell residency, RMANJ fellowship. Both are named in her credentials: New York Presbyterian Hospital-Weill Cornell for residency, and one of the world’s highest-volume IVF programs for the fellowship.

She has done the lab work. Embryologist training during fellowship is stated in her biography, and this clinic performs its own culture, vitrification, laser-assisted hatching and biopsy in a CAP “with Distinction”-accredited laboratory.

A visible research record. More than 50 oral and poster presentations at ASRM, PCRS and ESHRE, in the same subjects she treats: preservation, IVF outcomes, and preimplantation genetic testing.

Recognition for teaching. Awards for excellence in obstetrics and in medical education during residency — relevant to patients who want their protocol and its reasoning explained, not just prescribed.

Professional Affiliations

Board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and in reproductive endocrinology and infertility. Presents at ASRM, PCRS and ESHRE, with 50-plus oral and poster presentations. Practices at Boca Fertility, a SART member clinic whose cycle outcomes are reported to SART and the CDC, and a member of the physician-led Fertility Specialists Network.

Suitable For

  • Patients starting or continuing IVF or IUI — cycle planning and single-physician follow-through in a private-practice setting
  • Egg, embryo and oncofertility preservation — a named specialty interest, with the clinic’s own guidance on freezing before 35 and on how many mature eggs to aim for
  • LGBTQ+ individuals and couples — donor insemination, reciprocal IVF and carrier-based family building are declared focus areas, and the clinic recommends legal agreements so both mothers can be listed on the birth certificate
  • Couples weighing PGT-A or PGT-M — recurrent loss, single-gene risk or age-related screening questions, in her published research area
  • PCOS and ovulation problems — her listed interest, in a program that designs antagonist-based protocols around OHSS risk
  • Patients who want the lab explained — embryologist training means she can walk through culture day, biopsy grading and freeze-all reasoning directly
