About
Dr. Ahmad Zharif Bin Hussein is the resident fertility specialist at Metro IVF Johor Bahru — the point, for couples in Malaysia’s southern state, where the Metro IVF programme’s fertility care is delivered on their own doorstep.
He completed his medical degree at the Russian State Medical University in Moscow in 2009, began postgraduate training at Hospital Pakar Sultanah Fatimah in Muar, and practised at Hospital Segamat, where his interest in obstetrics and gynaecology took root. He finished his specialty training at Hospital Sultan Ismail, Johor Bahru and Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia in Kubang Kerian, and in 2018 was gazetted as a general O&G specialist by the Ministry of Health Malaysia. He also holds a Master of Obstetrics and Gynaecology from USM.
Before joining Metro IVF, Dr. Zharif ran the infertility clinic at Hospital Sultan Ismail, Johor Bahru — the referral destination for every district hospital in the region. Over more than ten years he managed infertility in both female and male patients, handling the cases the whole state sent upward. He is a keen educator: a regular lecturer at Medicorp events and a part-time lecturer at Newcastle University Medicine Malaysia and Asian Metropolitan University in Johor. As a lifetime member of the Obstetrical and Gynaecological Society of Malaysia (OGSM) he has multiple specialty publications, most recently the e-book “Obstetric & Gynecology Crash Note”.

Why Choose Dr. Ahmad Zharif Bin Hussein
He ran the state’s infertility referral clinic. The Hospital Sultan Ismail infertility clinic received cases from every district hospital in Johor. Ten-plus years as its resident specialist means Dr. Zharif has seen — and managed — the full severity spectrum of infertility, including complex cases most clinics meet only occasionally.
Both partners, one physician. His clinic experience covers female and male infertility together, so couples are evaluated as a pair from the start instead of being split across two specialists — fewer missed causes, one coherent plan.
Fertility care without the trip to Klang Valley. As the resident fertility specialist at Metro IVF Johor Bahru, he brings the group’s RTAC-accredited programme to southern patients, cutting travel for frequent monitoring visits.
An academic habit of updating. Lifetime OGSM membership, a published e-book, Medicorp lectures and part-time university teaching at Newcastle University Medicine Malaysia and Asian Metropolitan University all point to a clinician who keeps current — and who explains things well, because teaching is part of his routine.
