Metro IVF Fertility Centre — Klang & Nationwide IVF Network, Malaysia
About Metro IVF Fertility Centre
Metro IVF Fertility Centre traces its roots to an obstetrics and gynaecology practice established in 1989. In 1996, fertility consultant Dr. Tee Swi Peng founded the Metro IVF Centre in Klang, and the clinic welcomed its first IVF baby in 2000. Since February 2018 the parent company, Metro Healthcare Berhad, has been listed on the main board of Bursa Malaysia, Malaysia’s stock exchange.
Today Metro IVF operates what it calls Malaysia’s largest IVF network — 13 fertility and maternity branches covering Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Perak, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka and Johor — with its headquarters and RTAC-accredited laboratory at Hospital Wanita Metro Klang. According to the clinic’s own website, it has supported more than 16,000 families over roughly 36 years of experience, supported by a team of around 30 doctors, trained embryologists, nurses and counsellors.
Metro IVF is also known as a pioneer of publicly private fertility partnerships in Malaysia: in 2008 its specialists helped launch the IVF Shared Care programme with government hospitals (starting with Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah, HTAR), an affordable co-management model later extended to other public institutions.

Fees & Packages
Metro IVF does not publish a public price list for its treatments. The website runs seasonal promotions — including 2026 IVF, IUI and fertility screening offers, plus normal delivery and caesarean delivery packages — but exact figures are quoted only after an inquiry form is submitted and a consultation is booked. As a guideline for international patients: costs at Malaysian private fertility centres are generally far below those in Singapore, Japan or Western countries, with an RTAC-accredited standard of care. Contact the clinic for a current written quote covering consultation, medication, laboratory work and any add-ons such as PGT or freezing.
Patient Journey
Based on the clinic’s published treatment pathway:
- Consultation & fertility assessment — booked ideally for days 2-5 of the menstrual cycle: history, physical and pelvic exam, blood hormone panel and semen analysis
- Follow-up investigations timed to the cycle — day 2-5 hormone testing, day 8 tubal patency testing, day 12 follicle maturity scan; further options include laparoscopy
- First-line treatment — medication and ovulation induction, often combined with timed intercourse or IUI
- Advanced ART — if needed, an IVF/ICSI cycle: stimulation, trigger, egg retrieval under the RTAC-accredited lab, ICSI fertilisation, culture (to blastocyst where appropriate), optional PGT/ERA-guided transfer
- Pregnancy test and antenatal follow-up — beta-hCG testing after transfer, then pregnancy care through Metro’s maternity services
- Delivery — normal or caesarean delivery within the Metro hospital network, with 24-hour inpatient ward services at selected branches
International patients can start with a remote consultation, then plan an approximately 2-4 week on-site stay for a monitored cycle, with follow-up at the branch nearest their home in Malaysia where possible.
Local Legal Framework
Assisted reproduction in Malaysia is regulated under the Ministry of Health’s National ART Policy (2008), which Metro IVF specialists helped draft. Key rules for patients:
- Eligibility: treatment is restricted to legally married heterosexual couples using their own gametes
- Egg and sperm donation: donor gamete programmes are not permitted; egg donation is prohibited
- Surrogacy: commercial surrogacy is prohibited; non-commercial arrangements are allowed only for Muslim couples under specific religious conditions
- Embryo protection: embryos are treated as potential life and subject to strict protections
- PGT: permitted for medical indications, so couples at risk of genetic disease can screen embryos
- LGBT patients: same-sex couples cannot access fertility treatment under current law
Malaysia combines high-quality private reproductive care with a Muslim-majority cultural context, making it a common destination for Malaysian, Indonesian and regional patients who need Sharia-compatible guidance alongside clinical service.
