Dr. Choo Gim Sun

About

Born in Penang, Dr. Choo Gim Sun completed his MD at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) and his Master of Medicine in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). In 2012 he pursued a fellowship and diploma in minimal access surgery in India, then trained in advanced laparoscopy and hysteroscopy in Sydney under world-renowned endoscopists Prof. Alan Lam and Dr. Danny Chou.

In 2014, on a Ministry of Health scholarship, he undertook three years of reproductive medicine training in the fertility units of Hospital Ipoh, Hospital Seberang Jaya, Hospital Alor Setar and the UKM Fertility Centre, followed by fellowship training in Singapore at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital and the National University Hospital under Prof. Bernard Chern and Prof. YF Fong. His passion for reproductive surgery later took him to the US and Europe to train with Prof. Marc Goldstein (male fertility surgery), Prof. Charles Koh (tubal surgery), Prof. Cameran Nezhat and Dr. Tamir Seckin (advanced endometriosis surgery) and Prof. Stefano Bettochi (advanced hysteroscopy).

Dr. Choo headed the Reproductive Medicine Services unit at Penang General Hospital from 2017 and was gazetted as a Ministry of Health reproductive medicine subspecialist the same year. He is now a fertility consultant with Metro IVF and an international speaker in reproductive medicine and endoscopic surgery.
