About
Dr. Masachi Hanaoka is deputy director of Hanaoka IVF Clinic (Shinagawa) and director of the group’s Hanaoka Ladies Clinic in Omori. He graduated from Toho University School of Medicine in 2004, completed initial training at Mitsui Memorial Hospital, then trained in perinatal medicine at the National Center for Child Health and Development before joining the family of clinics in 2008. He earned his Doctor of Medical Science at Toho University in 2011 with research on declining high human chorionic gonadotropin levels in early pregnancy.
He served as director of the Shinagawa IVF clinic from 2014 to 2022 and has led the Omori clinic since 2022 while staying on as deputy director in Shinagawa. His cross-disciplinary background lets him follow patients from ovarian stimulation and embryo transfer into obstetric risk management without a hand-off between institutions.
Clinical Expertise
- IVF and ICSI: reproductive specialty care from stimulation through embryo transfer
- Clinical genetics: Japan Society of Human Genetics-certified clinical geneticist, supporting patients who consider PGT-A or carry inherited-condition concerns
- Perinatal (maternal-fetal) medicine: certified by the Japan Society for Obstetric Gynecologic and Neonatal Medicine, extending care into high-risk pregnancy management
- Recurrent pregnancy loss evaluation: systematic assessment combining genetic and perinatal expertise, informed by his doctoral research on early hCG trends
- Full-cycle continuity: one physician spanning preconception counseling, ART treatment and pregnancy follow-up
Why Choose Dr. Masachi Hanaoka
Few fertility physicians in Japan combine reproductive medicine, clinical genetics and perinatal (maternal-fetal) certification; Dr. Hanaoka holds all three, plus JSOG obstetrics and gynecology board certification. For patients facing both infertility treatment and pregnancy risk — advanced maternal age, recurrent miscarriage, hereditary disease concerns — this means evaluation, treatment and obstetric planning happen in the same hands and the same clinic. He has also directed the Shinagawa IVF clinic through its first eight years, giving him operational insight into both sites of the Futaraba group, and he contributes original papers and book chapters while presenting regularly at Japanese reproductive medicine conferences, keeping his protocols aligned with current research.
