About
Dr. Jennifer Dundee did the unusual half of this career first: she spent years working as a clinical embryologist at the University of Southern California, at the microscope, before she was a physician running an IVF program. That ordering shows up in how she consults — the lab is not a black box that returns an embryo count, it is the part of the cycle she trained in.
At the University of Vermont she held three roles at once: Medical Director of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, Clinical Director of IVF, and Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, along with the title of IVF Director for the school’s REI fellowship program. In practice that means she set the standards for how a fellowship’s egg retrievals, inseminations, cultures, biopsies and transfers were done, and taught the fellows who did them. Her own training ran Stanford, an MD at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, OB/GYN residency at George Washington University Hospital, and REI fellowship at the University of Vermont Medical Center.
She joined Coastal Fertility Specialists in September 2026 and began seeing patients there on September 1 at the Nexton office in Summerville, expanding the group’s physician bench in the Charleston area. She is board-certified in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility and brings more than a decade of reproductive medicine experience — clinical, laboratory and academic — to a practice where the entire network’s embryology sits in one CAP-accredited Mount Pleasant laboratory, a setup her background maps onto directly.
Clinical Expertise
- IVF program direction: protocols, quality standards and staff training for a fellowship-level IVF program at an academic medical center
- Clinical embryology: hands years at USC in the laboratory phase — insemination, culture assessment, freezing — that determines most IVF outcomes
- Complex and repeated IVF cycles: poor embryo development, fertilization failure and freeze-all decisions, evaluated from both the lab and the clinic side
- Fertility preservation: egg and embryo freezing counseling for patients delaying or facing gonadotoxic treatment
- REI fellowship teaching: curriculum and clinical oversight as UVM’s IVF Director for its REI fellowship program
Why Choose Dr. Jennifer Dundee
She has done the job your embryos are given. Years of USC clinical embryology before medical practice is a rare credential on a fertility physician’s CV.
She set the rules rather than followed them. Medical Director of REI, Clinical Director of IVF and IVF Director for a university fellowship program simultaneously at UVM.
A laboratory-centric practice in a laboratory-centric clinic. CFS keeps every retrieval and every culture in one Mount Pleasant lab; her dual training is the most useful background in that structure.
Teaching pedigree from Stanford through Vermont. Four institutions across undergrad, medical school, residency and fellowship, plus an assistant professorship under review for promotion when she left.
Professional Affiliations
Board-certified in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Former Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Medical Director of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, and Clinical Director of IVF at the University of Vermont, where she also directed IVF for the REI fellowship program. Practices within Coastal Fertility Specialists, a SART member clinic that reports cycles to SART and the CDC.
Suitable For
- Patients whose last cycle went wrong in the lab, where fertilization, development or freezing is the question
- Repeated IVF failures needing a plan that accounts for culture conditions as well as stimulation
- Fertility preservation, particularly when the timeline is short
- Families who want a fresh reading of an existing IVF plan, since CFS offers a free second-opinion consult to patients already seen by a reproductive endocrinologist
- Charleston-area patients who would rather travel to Summerville (Nexton), where Dr. Dundee holds her clinic
