About
Before he was a doctor, Mark Amols worked as a registered nurse at the Mayo Clinic. He came back to that hospital for his own training: an obstetrics and gynecology residency that began in 2004 and, from 2008, three more years to finish a fellowship in reproductive medicine. He had earned his medical degree at the University of Arizona School of Medicine, entering in 2000, after a nursing degree at Grand Canyon University. Born in the Bronx and raised mostly in Arizona, he returned to the state to practice.
Amols is dual board-certified, in Obstetrics and Gynecology and in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. He founded New Direction Fertility Centers after he and his wife went through infertility and IVF themselves, and the clinic points to that history in how he works with patients. During residency he was voted best resident teacher and best resident laparoscopic surgeon and was selected as Chief Resident.
New Direction lists his clinical focus as individualized IVF, complex fertility care, and patient education, and names him founder-physician at the Gilbert, Scottsdale and Las Vegas locations. The practice runs a physician-led model: the doctor who sets your protocol is the one who follows the cycle, with an emphasis on direct communication and keeping advanced care accessible.
Clinical Expertise
- Individualized IVF: his stated focus is IVF built around your response and history rather than a standard stimulation template
- Complex fertility care: evaluation and treatment for patients whose infertility has not answered first-line approaches
- PGT-A: preimplantation genetic screening of embryos, one of the services he is listed for
- Egg freezing and fertility preservation: among his listed specialties
- Patient education and physician-led care: he explains the plan and the reasoning behind it, and stays involved through the cycle rather than handing it off
Why Choose Dr. Amols
Certified twice, trained end to end at one of the country’s best-known hospitals. He is board-certified in both Obstetrics and Gynecology and Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, and completed residency and fellowship at the Mayo Clinic. The general and subspecialty credentials mean the surgical and the endocrine sides of your care sit with one physician.
He set up the model he practices under. Amols founded New Direction, and the clinic is physician-led: the doctor who builds your protocol is the doctor who stays with the cycle. His stated priorities are direct communication, individualized treatment, and keeping advanced care accessible.
His own path into IVF shapes how he consults. He and his wife went through infertility and IVF, and the clinic treats that shared experience as part of how he relates to patients.
Recognized by colleagues and by fellow trainees. Peers elected him President of the Phoenix OB/GYN Society, and he served on the national ASRM Technology Committee. In training he was voted best resident teacher and best resident laparoscopic surgeon and named Chief Resident.
