About
Dr. R.M. Udayar Pandian Ramachandhiran is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, gynaecological laparoscopic surgeon and fertility specialist at Alpha IVF & Women’s Specialists, recognised as one of Malaysia’s leading fertility consultants. He graduated from JIPMER (Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research), India, one of the country’s premier medical institutions, and earned his Master of Medicine in O&G at the National University of Malaysia (UKM).
He holds a Master in Reproductive Medicine from the United Kingdom and is a Fellow of the International College of Surgeons (USA). His clinical training spans several countries — laparoscopic surgery in India and IVF technology in Vietnam and Singapore — exposing him to diverse patient populations and a wide range of infertility aetiologies.
His dual identity as surgeon and reproductive medicine specialist defines his practice: patients with structural pelvic disease can be diagnosed, operated and then treated with IVF by the same doctor.
Clinical Expertise
- Gynaecological laparoscopic surgery: excision of endometriosis lesions, stripping of ovarian endometriomas (“chocolate cysts”), adhesiolysis and management of pelvic adhesions — with diagnosis and treatment completed in a single anaesthetic session
- Full IVF and ART cycle management: stimulation protocol design, egg retrieval, embryo culture oversight and transfer, underpinned by his UK master’s-level reproductive medicine training
- Tubal factor infertility: laparoscopic assessment of tubal damage with an evidence-based decision on repair versus removal (salpingectomy for hydrosalpinx) before proceeding to IVF
- Hysteroscopic surgery: removal of submucous fibroids and endometrial polyps that interfere with embryo implantation, timed into the IVF pathway
Why Choose Dr. Udayar
The FICS fellowship from the Chicago-based International College of Surgeons is an acknowledgement of surgical competence at an international standard — an asset many purely reproductive-medicine doctors simply do not carry. For infertility caused by endometriosis, cysts, adhesions or tubal disease, that surgical depth matters: the decision about whether and when to operate before IVF directly affects ovarian reserve and implantation odds.
His “surgeon-plus-IVF” combination removes an entire layer of referral. Instead of a gynaecological surgeon, then a separate fertility doctor, then coordinated timing between two clinics, patients receive one sequential plan — laparoscopy, recovery, stimulation, transfer — inside a single facility with one accountable clinician. The UK Master in Reproductive Medicine adds the embryology, genetics and ART-theory grounding behind those sequencing decisions, and his multinational training keeps his technique set broad.

- Endometriosis-related infertility: stage III-IV disease or ovarian endometriomas where laparoscopic lesion excision can improve natural or IVF prospects before stimulation
- Tubal factor infertility: blocked, damaged or fluid-filled tubes (hydrosalpinx) needing laparoscopic assessment and a repair-versus-removal decision prior to IVF
- Fibroids and polyps impairing implantation: hysteroscopic correction timed to precede an embryo transfer cycle
