About
Fertility clinics rarely have a physician trained to interpret genetics themselves. Dr. Mari Shinoda is the only name on Yume Clinic’s published staff list who holds the Specialist in Clinical Genetics qualification, which she took in 2016 — the same year she was certified as a women’s healthcare specialist by the Japanese Society for Women’s Health. In a clinic where PGT-A is available as a self-pay add-on and where recurrent miscarriage and repeated implantation failure are worked up on site, that credential means the genetics conversation can happen in the consulting room instead of being handed to an outside counsellor.
She graduated from Tokai University School of Medicine in 2007 and joined the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Tokai University Hospital, where she remains on the department register to this day. That university link still shapes the clinic’s staffing: Dr. Misaki Momose, who joined Yume Clinic in 2024, trained in the same department.
Under the schedule revision the clinic introduced in September 2025, Dr. Shinoda performs retrievals on Mondays and Tuesdays and transfers on Tuesdays, carries Tuesday first visits, and holds outpatient sessions on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays plus the 15:30–17:00 afternoon clinic on Tuesdays and Fridays. In the fourth week of the month she also takes a Wednesday retrieval and morning session. Few physicians on the roster cover as many treatment days.
Clinical Expertise
- IVF — performs egg retrieval and embryo transfer, setting the trigger from follicle monitoring and hormone values.
- Genetic counselling and PGT-A review — explains what preimplantation screening can and cannot show, its self-pay cost, and how results should be read for couples with recurrent pregnancy loss, repeated implantation failure or a known inherited condition.
- Hysteroscopic and endometrial assessment — as a member of the Japan Society for Endoscopic Obstetrics and Gynecology, she is involved in the pathway for uterine cavity and lining problems, including the clinic’s chronic endometritis testing and hysteroscopy.
- Women’s health and endocrine management — the women’s healthcare specialist background is applied to menstrual irregularity, hormonal disorders and gynaecological comorbidity that sit alongside fertility treatment.
- First visits and protocol selection — runs Tuesday initial consultations, reading the hormone panel, AMH and antral follicle count to fix a starting point.
- Fertility preservation counselling — Yume Clinic is a designated institution for Kanagawa Prefecture’s fertility preservation programme, and she takes part in assessing egg, sperm and embryo freezing before cancer treatment.
Why Choose Dr. Shinoda
Genetics handled inside the clinic. Karyotype results, balanced translocations and inherited disease risk need specialist reading before an embryo biopsy decision is reasonable. She holds the clinical genetics specialist qualification and is a member of the Japanese Society for Genetic Counseling, so indication, limitation and result interpretation can be given by the same physician who performs the retrieval — with one consistent account rather than a clinic answer and an outside answer.
Breadth of weekly coverage. Retrieval, transfer and clinic sessions in one physician’s week matters in IVF, because the treatment cannot be re-timed at will: stimulation starts on cycle day 3, and the retrieval date follows from scan and hormone response. Her Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday assignments make it easier to slot a cycle around her without losing the timing window.
Gynaecology linked to reproduction. The women’s healthcare certification plus endoscopic society membership mean uterine lining, cavity anatomy and endocrine background are folded into the fertility plan. Patients who have been told separately by a gynaecologist and a fertility clinic that their problems are unrelated get a single assessment here.

Suitable For
- Couples who need genetic counselling or a PGT-A decision. She is the clinic’s genetics-credentialled physician, so chromosomal abnormalities, recurrent miscarriage and family disease history can be discussed from indication through to result.
- Patients booking a Tuesday first visit. Tuesday initial consultations are hers, which means the baseline workup and the direction of treatment can be settled at the first appointment.
- Endometrial or uterine cavity problems under investigation. Repeated transfer failure or a suspected cavity factor connects to her endoscopic society background and the clinic’s add-on testing.
- Patients wanting minimal stimulation. The clinic does not run high-stimulation protocols; she adjusts each retrieval to the actual egg count and hormonal response rather than to a target number.
