About
Assoc. Prof. Somsock Santibenchakul is an obstetrician-gynaecologist and reproductive medicine specialist at BNH Hospital’s Women’s Health Centre in Bangkok. She earned her M.D. from Chiang Mai University in 2004, completed OB-GYN residency training and a Reproductive Medicine fellowship at Chulalongkorn University, and was awarded the Thai Sub-board diploma in Reproductive Medicine in 2022.
She then pursued a second, research-oriented career track in the United States, earning an M.P.H. (2016) and a Ph.D. in Epidemiology (2019) from the University of Hawai’i at Manoa. Back in Thailand she leads the Family Planning and Reproductive Health division at Chulalongkorn University, combining academic research leadership with clinical fertility practice - a dual profile that shapes how she evaluates difficult infertility cases and interprets the latest evidence for her patients.
Clinical Expertise
- Diagnosis and treatment of female infertility, including unexplained and complex cases
- Reproductive medicine consultation: ovarian function assessment and endocrine evaluation
- Family planning and reproductive health, reflecting her university division role
- Evidence-based risk assessment drawing on epidemiological training - reading population data to inform individual treatment decisions
Why Choose Assoc. Prof. Somsock Santibenchakul
An M.P.H. plus a Ph.D. in Epidemiology is a genuinely rare combination in reproductive medicine. It equips Assoc. Prof. Somsock to analyze infertility causes through a population-health lens, scrutinize study data critically, and build treatment recommendations on solid evidence rather than habit - an asset for patients whose cases have resisted standard work-ups. As head of Chulalongkorn University’s Family Planning and Reproductive Health division, she leads an academic team tracking the frontier of reproductive research and translates new findings into clinical practice. Her Thai Board and Sub-board certifications cover both general gynecology and fertility subspecialty care.
