About
Temeka Zore’s niche came from her own transcript. She grew up in Indiana, took an athletic scholarship to the University of Texas at Austin as a Division I track and field athlete, and collected the honors that go with doing both at a high level: the V.F. “Doc” Neuhaus Award — the women’s athletic department’s top award at Texas, given for athletics and academics together — ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America second team, and the Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar Award. She then went back to Indiana on a full merit scholarship to medical school.
That biography is why “Female Athletes and Reproduction” appears as a named clinical interest, alongside RED-S — relative energy deficiency in sport, the under-fueling syndrome that suppresses ovulation and is frequently missed in endurance, weight-class and aesthetic sports. For an athlete being told her cycles are simply irregular, a physician who has competed at that level and treats the endocrine consequences is a different consultation. Her other stated interests are fertility preservation, PCOS, and recurrent pregnancy loss.
Medically, she is double board-certified in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility and in Obstetrics and Gynecology, trained through residency at St. Vincent Hospital in Indiana and an REI fellowship at UCLA, where she presented and co-authored work in leading medical journals. She practices at Spring’s Pacific Heights office. And she has been on the storage side of the consent forms — she froze embryos herself, a fact she raises with patients because it changes what she says about timing, cost and the emotional weight of a tank.
Clinical Expertise
- Fertility preservation and egg freezing: a lead clinical interest, from her own experience as well as her practice
- Female athletes and reproduction: menstrual function, energy availability and conception planning around training loads
- RED-S and fertility: diagnosing energy-deficiency amenorrhea as a treatable cause of anovulation, distinct from PCOS
- PCOS: ovulation induction and metabolic management
- Recurrent pregnancy loss: evaluation after consecutive losses
- IVF and general reproductive endocrinology: board-certified in both REI and OB/GYN
Why Choose Dr. Zore
Two boards, one of them surgical-general. Board certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology as well as in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility means her base training covers the whole specialty, not only the lab-and-protocol half.
She is the athlete-fertility appointment. Very few IVF physicians list female athletes and RED-S as a formal clinical interest, and fewer still have competed on a Division I scholarship. If your cycles, fueling and training are entangled, that is a specific consultation.
She has frozen her own embryos. Not a credential, but a real one for the counseling conversation: she has sat through the decision about how many eggs to bank, what storage costs, and what to do with what is left.
Recognized during fellowship. A Pacific Coast Reproductive Society In-Training Scholarship plus the Eli Lilly medical-school merit scholarship and the Neuhaus award place her performance inside the reproductive-medicine society’s own review process.
