About

About

Three of the societies that set the standards for American assisted reproduction have had Eric Surrey as their president: SART in 2012, the Society of Reproductive Surgeons, and the Pacific Coast Reproductive Society. That combination is unusual in a field where most physicians lead one organization, and it reflects a split career — one foot in the operating room, one in the IVF lab. He has practiced at CCRM’s Colorado sites since 1999, 27 years at a single institution, and is 37 years into the specialty overall.

Before Colorado he held academic posts in Los Angeles: associate clinical professor of obstetrics and gynecology at UCLA, director of reproductive medicine at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, and director of the assisted reproductive technology program at a Century City hospital. He trained at the University of Pennsylvania medical school, then completed both residency and reproductive endocrinology and infertility fellowship at UCLA. His published work — more than 125 peer-reviewed papers and book chapters, plus more than 135 national and international abstracts — concentrates on endometriosis and infertility, the interaction of reproductive surgery with ART outcomes, and how to stimulate women who respond poorly.

That research agenda maps directly onto the patients who find him. Deeply infiltrated endometriosis, damaged tubes, recurrent implantation failure, and a short ovarian-reserve window are cases where the decision to operate, to stimulate differently, or to skip straight to IVF changes the result. He is board certified in reproductive endocrinology and infertility through the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and holds Castle Connolly Top Doctor, America’s Top Doctors for Women, and 5280 Denver Top Doctor designations. The clinic lists him as accepting new patients.

Clinical Expertise

  • Endometriosis-associated infertility: a named research and clinical focus, including whether and when surgery improves the path to a transfer
  • Reproductive surgery: hysteroscopic and laparoscopic treatment of uterine, tubal and pelvic pathology, from a surgeon who chaired a reproductive surgeons’ society
  • Diminished ovarian reserve and poor response: individualized stimulation for women who recruit few eggs, the second pillar of his publication record
  • IVF with ICSI and PGT-A: full-cycle management including genetic screening of embryos before transfer
  • Recurrent implantation failure: rework of prior cycles rather than repetition of the same protocol
  • LGBTQ+ family building and single-parent pathways: donor egg, donor sperm and gestational carrier routes

Why Choose Dr. Eric Surrey

He led the professional bodies, not just the clinic. SART, SRS and PCRS presidencies put him inside the guideline-writing and data-reporting machinery that governs US IVF clinics.

Surgery and stimulation in one physician. Many patients with endometriosis bounce between a surgeon and an IVF doctor; Surrey’s training and society leadership span both, and he practices both.

Twenty-seven years in one place. Long tenure at a single Colorado practice means he has followed patients and outcomes across years, not rotations.

The literature passes through his desk. 125-plus peer-reviewed papers on precisely the diagnoses he treats — endometriosis, poor response, ART and surgery interaction.

  • Repeated IVF failures needing a re-read of the protocol
  • Tubal, fibroid and uterine pathology requiring hysteroscopy or laparoscopy
  • Complex third-party and LGBTQ+ family building
