About
James H. Segars, Jr., MD is Director of the Division of Reproductive Science and Women’s Health Research and Professor of Gynecology and Obstetrics at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He also leads the Howard W. and Georgeanna Seegar Jones Laboratory of Reproductive Sciences and Women’s Health Research — a laboratory named for the founding figures of modern reproductive endocrinology, reflecting Johns Hopkins’ deep academic tradition in reproductive science.
Dr. Segars earned his undergraduate and medical degrees from Duke University, completed residency and fellowship training at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, and pursued postdoctoral research at the NIH Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD).
He joined Johns Hopkins in 2015. Previously, he served as Director of the Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Research Unit at NIH/NICHD and Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences.
