About
Newark, Atlanta, Columbus: Dr. Jeffrey Goldberg took an undergraduate degree at Rutgers and a medical degree at New Jersey Medical School in 1983, interned at Saint Barnabas Medical Center, trained in obstetrics and gynecology at Emory University Hospital, and finished reproductive endocrinology and infertility fellowship at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in 1989. More than 40 years of clinical practice have followed that fellowship.
His practice concentrates on the patients who arrive with history already attached — more than one failed IVF cycle, infertility with several contributing causes, or pregnancy being attempted after 35, where the arithmetic of egg quality narrows the options and the protocol choices matter more. His approach is to rebuild the evaluation before rebuilding the stimulation plan: recheck ovarian reserve and uterine anatomy, review what the previous cycles actually showed at retrieval and at transfer, and change the variable that failed rather than repeating a protocol and hoping.
He holds ABOG certification in obstetrics and gynecology and in the REI subspecialty, and he sees patients at the Beachwood Family Health and Surgery Center, Cleveland Clinic Fertility Center’s main Ohio site, where cycle work is coordinated with the center’s on-site laboratory and andrology services.
Clinical Expertise
- Repeat IVF failure: re-evaluation of patients whose prior cycles did not produce a pregnancy, with the stimulation, fertilization and transfer steps reviewed separately rather than treated as one black box
- Complex female infertility: workup across ovulatory dysfunction, tubal factors, endometriosis and unexplained subfertility, sequenced into a single treatment plan
- Family building after 35: protocol decisions for diminished ovarian reserve, including how many retrieval attempts are reasonable and when to change course
- Fertility preservation: counseling and egg or embryo freezing for patients with medical indications or planned delay
- Cycle planning inside an academic center: coordination with the center’s CAP-accredited, CLIA-certified embryology laboratory and its andrology testing
Why Choose Dr. Jeffrey Goldberg
Four decades of cycle history to compare against. Clinics publish age-band live birth rates; individual physicians accumulate the cases behind them. Goldberg has been practicing reproductive endocrinology since 1989, which is a longer stretch of IVF experience than most patients will encounter in a first consultation.
He takes the re-evaluation cases. His stated focus is patients whose previous treatment did not work — the group most likely to be told elsewhere to simply try again.
Certified twice over by the ABOG, in obstetrics and gynecology and in the REI subspecialty, with fellowship training at Ohio State’s Wexner Medical Center.
Based at the center’s main Ohio site, where the on-site laboratory, andrology services and reproductive surgery sit in the same practice rather than across a referral boundary.
