About

About

Dr. Keiichi Kato is the Director of Kato Ladies Clinic (KLC) in Shinjuku, Tokyo, one of the world’s highest-volume IVF centers. He earned his MD from Kanazawa University School of Medicine in 2000, trained in hospital obstetrics and gynecology posts, and spent time in 2005 at New Hope Fertility Center in New York before joining KLC in 2007. He served as the clinic’s Clinical Director from 2011 and became Director in 2013.

As director, Dr. Kato sets the clinical direction of KLC’s signature natural-cycle and minimal-stimulation IVF program — treatment built on using as little medication as possible while working with the patient’s own cycle, supported by the clinic’s 365-day opening schedule and in-house embryology laboratory.

Clinical Expertise

  • Natural-cycle and minimal-stimulation IVF, from protocol design to embryo transfer
  • ICSI and assisted reproduction for difficult fertility cases
  • PGT-A preimplantation genetic testing, supported by his clinical genetics certification
  • Fertility preservation and egg freezing
  • Genetic counseling for couples considering preimplantation testing

Why Choose Dr. Keiichi Kato

Dr. Kato holds a rare combination of three Japanese board certifications — specialist in obstetrics and gynecology (JSOG), specialist in reproductive medicine (Japan Society for Reproductive Medicine), and clinical genetic specialist (Japan Society of Human Genetics) — which lets him handle the full arc of treatment, from stimulation strategy and lab oversight to genetic testing decisions, in one consultation. His US clinical experience at a New York fertility center adds an international perspective, and his leadership roles in the Japan Fertility and Implantation Society and Japan A-PART place him at the center of ART practice standards in Japan. Under his direction the clinic reports a 2024 fertilization rate of 89.5% and blastocyst development rate of 67.7% (clinic data).
