About

About Kevin Winslow

Kevin Winslow built the clinic he still runs. He founded the Florida Institute for Reproductive Medicine and has been its director for more than 21 years, which makes him the physician behind FIRM’s standing claim to be the largest provider of infertility care in North Florida and South Georgia. His own bio puts his clinical experience at over 36 years.

He is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology in both Obstetrics and Gynecology and Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, and completed his OB/GYN residency at the University of Florida. Our records for this physician do not name the institution where he did his REI fellowship, so we do not state one here.

Two other roles sit alongside the directorship. He is a Clinical Professor of Infertility and Reproductive Endocrinology at the University of Florida, Jacksonville, which is a teaching appointment with residents, and he has been president of the Florida Society of Reproductive Endocrinology/Infertility. He practices at FIRM’s Jacksonville sites at Baptist Downtown and Baptist South, and at the Tallahassee and Valdosta, Georgia clinics.

Clinical Expertise

  • IVF — his stated special interest. Full-cycle management from stimulation through retrieval, fertilization and transfer, including the laboratory side of the program he directs.
  • ICSI — injecting a single sperm into each egg, the standard approach where sperm count, motility or morphology is the limiting factor.
  • Male-factor infertility — working up the partner’s side of a couple’s diagnosis rather than treating the female patient alone, which matters in a program where he is one of the physicians covering both.
  • Fertility preservation — egg and embryo freezing, the other interest his bio names specifically.
  • Program-level case mix — as medical director he covers the clinic’s whole range, including patients who arrive after treatment elsewhere.

Why Choose Dr. Winslow

Continuity with the person who set the program’s protocols. A physician-director who has held the role for over two decades writes the stimulation protocols, chooses the lab practices and trains the staff who carry them out. Patients starting at FIRM are treated inside a program designed by the doctor they may see.

The volume claim is the clinic’s own, and it is specific. FIRM states that more than 10,000 babies have been born under his directorship. That is a clinic-published figure covering his whole tenure rather than a single year, so read it as experience across many cycles rather than as a success rate — the registry numbers on the clinic page are the ones that measure outcomes.

Teaching and professional standing are documented. He holds a clinical professorship at the University of Florida’s Jacksonville campus, has led the Florida REI society, is a member of the Society for Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, and has been inducted into Strathmore’s Who’s Who in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Physicians.

The program has outside recognition, with a date attached. Child Magazine named FIRM one of the top ten infertility programs in the nation in 2005, and the clinic says it has been featured on NBC, ABC, BBC News and the Today Show and in People, Child, Conceive, Pink, Self and Woman. Treat these as media recognition from the clinic’s own account.

Professional Affiliations

Winslow is a member of the Society for Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, the professional society for physicians who subspecialize in reproductive endocrinology, and has served as president of its Florida chapter, the Florida Society of Reproductive Endocrinology/Infertility. He is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Obstetrics and Gynecology and in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. He is a Clinical Professor of Infertility and Reproductive Endocrinology at the University of Florida, Jacksonville.

Suitable For

Patients whose case has already taken several years. With 36-plus years in practice and a director’s view of whole programs, the complex and previously unsuccessful situations are the ones where his experience is worth most.

Couples with a male-factor component. ICSI and male infertility are on his service list, so a couple can be worked up and treated in the same program rather than split across two clinics.

Anyone freezing eggs or embryos before treatment or before time. Fertility preservation is one of the two interests his biography names.

Patients who want a long relationship with one physician. He is at the same clinic he founded, which is the practical version of continuity: the same doctor writes the protocol you start on and the one you may still be on two years later.
