About

About

Leah Kaye, MD finished her reproductive endocrinology and infertility fellowship and her master’s degree in clinical and translational research at the same institution, the University of Connecticut, which is an uncommon combination in a practicing IVF physician: the fellowship trained her to run cycles, the degree trained her to read and design the studies that decide how cycles get run. She joined The Fertility Center of Las Vegas in 2023 and is listed by the clinic as southern Nevada’s second female board-certified reproductive endocrinologist.

She grew up in Oregon and has extended family in Las Vegas. Her medical degree came from the University of Maryland School of Medicine, followed by OB/GYN residency and REI fellowship in Connecticut. Board certification comes from the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology in both obstetrics and gynecology and the REI subspecialty, and during training she received the New England Fertility Society Fellows Grant, a Residency Education Award and a Second Year Resident Teaching Award.

Her named clinical interests sit on the endocrine side of reproductive medicine rather than the embryology side: conceiving with obesity, premature ovarian insufficiency — what patients often call premature menopause — and thyroid disease, plus the mechanics of embryo implantation. She also does egg freezing and provides fertility services for gay male couples, lesbian couples and transgender individuals, which she describes as emerging areas the profession is still learning about. Practically, she is the physician at this practice currently seeing new patients and holding evening and weekend appointments — the constraint that decides who can start a monitored cycle without taking four days off work. She practices in English.

Clinical Expertise

  • Obesity and fertility: stimulation dosing, retrieval logistics and pregnancy risk management adjusted for body mass, an area she identifies as still developing in the literature
  • Premature ovarian insufficiency: evaluation and family-building options for patients whose ovarian function declined early, including those with a family history of menopause before 40
  • Thyroid disease and reproduction: managing thyroid dysfunction around ovulation induction, transfer and early pregnancy
  • Egg freezing: antral follicle count and reserve testing, individualized protocol, 10-12 days of stimulation, monitored retrievals, vitrification, and long-term storage planning
  • Embryo implantation: endometrial preparation and transfer timing within a freeze-all program where essentially every transfer is a thawed blastocyst
  • LGBT and transgender family building: fertility services for gay male couples, lesbian couples and transgender patients, including preservation before gender-affirming therapy, with donor egg, donor sperm and gestational carrier pathways coordinated at the clinic
  • General reproductive medicine: IUI, ovulation induction and IVF cycle management across the full diagnostic range

Why Choose Dr. Leah Kaye

She is the accessible appointment at this practice. New-patient status plus evening and weekend slots is a scheduling fact, not an adjective. Monitoring cycles require frequent early-morning scans and blood work; a physician who also sees patients after hours and on Saturdays is the difference between starting a cycle this month and next.

A research degree behind the clinical judgment. Her master’s in clinical and translational research, earned alongside fellowship training, is the credential that matters when a clinic offers an add-on test or a protocol variant: she is trained to ask what the evidence base actually is. She says her interests — obesity and fertility, implantation, transgender fertility — are areas the profession is still learning, which is a more useful claim than certainty.

Endocrine problems are her stated focus. Weight, ovarian insufficiency and thyroid disease all change medication doses, cycle design and miscarriage risk. Patients carried as “poor responders” elsewhere often have one of these unaddressed.

She practices inside a protocol set that has evidence attached to it. The freeze-all strategy, day-5 blastocyst transfer and agonist trigger used at this center come out of randomized trials published in Fertility and Sterility and Reproductive Biomedicine Online by the physicians she now works alongside; she runs those protocols with the same laboratory team, and with a research degree that lets her say where the evidence stops.

Recognition from her training programs. A New England Fertility Society Fellows Grant and two teaching awards, given by residency faculty for work with other trainees.

Professional Affiliations

American Society for Reproductive Medicine; Pacific Coast Reproductive Society; American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. Board-certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Obstetrics and Gynecology and subspecialty-certified in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. Training awards include the New England Fertility Society Fellows Grant, the Residency Education Award for teaching and the Second Year Resident Teaching Award. She practices within a SART member clinic that reports all ART outcomes to the CDC, and alongside two other REI subspecialty-certified physicians — a staffing profile the clinic says is unique in Nevada.

Suitable For

  • Patients whose BMI has been raised as a problem but not managed: stimulation, anesthesia and retrieval planning adjusted accordingly, with the pregnancy-risk conversation held up front
  • Early menopause or premature ovarian insufficiency: reserve assessment, realistic discussion of own-egg versus donor-egg pathways, and preservation timing if the diagnosis is new
  • Thyroid disease, PCOS and other endocrine findings alongside infertility: conditions that shift dosing and miscarriage risk and are worth managing in the same clinic as the transfer
  • Egg freezing on a working schedule: the freeze cycle runs 10-14 days from stimulation to retrieval and is appointment-heavy; evening and weekend monitoring removes most of the time off work
  • Gay male and lesbian couples and transgender patients: a named clinical interest, with donor egg, donor sperm and gestational carrier programs run on site
  • Patients who want the reasoning, not the reassurance: a physician with formal research training who says plainly which parts of her field are unsettled

Best For
