About

About

Dr. Michael Neblett was chosen for the first-ever cohort of the Society of Reproductive Surgeons’ surgical scholars track while training at Mayo Clinic — a program built for the rare physician who wants to do reproductive surgery and run fertility cycles, not choose between them. That bet has paid off in a specific way: he now practices both reproductive endocrinology and infertility and reproductive surgery at Mayo’s Rochester campus, the surgical counterpart to the division’s medical side.

His paper trail starts at East Tennessee State University, where he graduated summa cum laude before earning his medical degree at ETSU’s Quillen College of Medicine, then trained in ob/gyn at Emory University. Back at Mayo he completed the REI fellowship with the surgical scholars track and a master’s in biomedical sciences in June 2023, spent a year teaching and practicing back at Emory in Atlanta, and returned to Rochester. The ABOG certified him in ob/gyn in 2021 and in REI in 2025.

The surgical list he works is the who’s-who of infertility with an anatomic cause: uterine fibroids, advanced-stage endometriosis, adenomyosis, Asherman syndrome, tubal reversals and complex Mullerian anomalies. He also holds an education post — associate director for the OB/GYN clerkship — and his department affiliations include Mayo Clinic Children’s and Pediatrics, which is where the division’s young-patient fertility preservation work sits. His 2025 case report for the journal Fertility and Sterility — an MRI-guided egg retrieval that ended in a live birth — was named to the journal’s “Best of 2025” collection by the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, after he’d already been the journal’s 2023 Reviewer of the Year.

Clinical Expertise

  • Reproductive surgery: minimally invasive and robotic techniques for fibroids, endometriosis and uterine/tubal pathology, performed by the physician who will also manage your cycles.
  • Tubal ligation reversal: outpatient microsurgical reanastomosis on his procedure list.
  • Asherman syndrome and intrauterine adhesions: a named surgical interest.
  • Complex Mullerian anomalies: septate, double and other congenital uterine configurations, with diagnostic hysteroscopy and laparoscopy.
  • IVF, ICSI and cycle management: egg retrieval, embryo transfer, egg and embryo freezing, ovulation induction — the medical half of his dual practice.
  • Fertility preservation: deferred reproduction, sperm collection, and work connected to Mayo Clinic Children’s for younger patients facing fertility-threatening treatment.
  • Third-party paths: egg donation, sperm-related services and gestational surrogacy appear among his procedures.

Why Choose Dr. Neblett

One doctor, both jobs. Inaugural-cohort surgical-scholar training means the consultation and the operation come from the same person — the pattern private fertility practices rarely staff.

Certified in both of his lanes: ABOG ob/gyn (2021) and REI (2025), with the SRS surgical scholars track behind the operative practice.

The literature vets him, too. Fertility and Sterility named him its 2023 Reviewer of the Year, and ASRM selected his MRI-guided oocyte retrieval case report for “The Best of Fertility and Sterility 2025.”

He stays in the classroom. As associate director of the OB/GYN clerkship he teaches the students two rotations below him — and he still has a year of Emory faculty practice on his record.

Professional Affiliations

Member of the Society of Reproductive Surgeons’ Surgical Scholars Track (SST) Task Force (2025-present). Poster judge for the Pacific Coast Reproductive Society (2026). Longstanding ties to the SRS surgical scholars program that trained him.

Suitable For

  • Surgery-first infertility: fibroids, advanced endometriosis or adenomyosis where operating well protects the chance of conceiving after.
  • Asherman syndrome or prior uterine injury: adhesions are one of his named operative interests.
  • Tubal ligation reversal candidates: microsurgical reversal is on his menu, not an outside referral.
  • A uterus built differently: complex Mullerian anomalies diagnosed and repaired in the same practice that would run your IVF cycle.
  • Young patients facing gonadotoxic treatment: his Children’s/Pediatrics affiliations put preservation consultations in familiar hands.

Best For

Infertility caused by fibroids, endometriosis or adenomyosis needing surgery Asherman syndrome and intrauterine adhesions Tubal ligation reversal Complex Mullerian (uterine) anomalies Fertility preservation in children and adolescents
