About
Dr. Mindy Christianson, MD, MBA, earned a business degree from the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School in 2021 while practicing reproductive endocrinology, and she now runs the operation she trained to lead: chief of Cleveland Clinic’s reproductive endocrinology and infertility practice, and medical director of Cleveland Clinic Fertility Center, the title carried on the clinic’s SART 2023 report. She is also interim program director of the center’s REI fellowship, which means the physicians training here in reproductive endocrinology are trained into her program.
Those three jobs cover different ground. The chief role is clinical leadership over the physician group. The medical director role is accountability for how cycles are run and reported — the 1,562 treatment cycles this clinic filed for 2023, and the age-band live birth rates that come with them. The MBA shows up in the third part: payers, financing arrangements such as the center’s ARC Fertility package programs, and the operational side of running a high-volume ART program.
Her clinical training is Johns Hopkins end to end — obstetrics and gynecology residency completed in 2010, reproductive endocrinology and infertility fellowship in 2013 — on top of a bachelor’s degree and medical degree from the University of Wisconsin. She holds ABOG certification in obstetrics and gynecology and in REI, and she sees fertility patients at the Beachwood Family Health and Surgery Center.
Clinical Expertise
- Multi-cause infertility evaluation: assessment that works through ovulatory dysfunction, tubal disease, endometriosis and male factor in one plan rather than one at a time
- IVF and ICSI protocol design: stimulation protocols chosen against ovarian reserve and prior response, with fertilization strategy set alongside the on-site embryology laboratory
- Fertility preservation: evaluation and management of egg and embryo freezing for patients facing gonadotoxic cancer therapy or other medical indications
- Program-level cycle governance: as medical director, owns the clinical standards applied to retrieval, fertilization, culture and transfer, and the quality and patient-safety systems around them
- Physician training: interim program director of the center’s REI fellowship, the role that sets what the next generation of physicians here is taught to do
Why Choose Dr. Mindy Christianson
She is named on the outcome report. The SART 2023 filing for this clinic lists her as medical director, so the cycle numbers a patient reads are the numbers she is accountable for.
Clinical authority plus a business degree. Few fertility physicians in the United States hold an MBA from a major medical school alongside REI practice leadership. It matters for the practical questions — what a cycle costs, what a plan will pay, what a money-back package actually guarantees — because those are the parts of treatment she helps run.
She trains the fellowship. An interim REI program director is by definition keeping current with the evidence base; the center’s teaching workload passes through her.
Johns Hopkins residency and fellowship, ABOG certified in both obstetrics and gynecology and REI, with the University of Wisconsin medical degree behind it.
