About

About

Dr. Ni Xiaowen has served as Medical Director of Kato Ladies Clinic (KLC) in Shinjuku, Tokyo since 2023, overseeing clinical standards across the clinic’s IVF, ICSI and natural-cycle programs. Dr. Ni joined KLC for the first time in 1997 and has been central to the clinic’s Chinese-speaking patient services ever since.

After graduating in clinical medicine from Shanghai Second Medical University (now Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine) in 1991, with early hospital experience at its affiliated Xinhua Hospital, Dr. Ni moved to Japan and built a cross-border career spanning Kato Ladies Clinic, the Yonghuihua Clinic in Shanghai, and Saitama Kyodo Hospital, before returning permanently to KLC in 2012 and rising to Medical Director.

Nearly three decades of infertility practice, combined with trilingual consultation in Chinese, Japanese and English, make Dr. Ni a key clinician for overseas patients choosing Tokyo for fertility treatment. Dr. Ni also represents KLC’s founding philosophy of gentler, more natural fertility care.

Clinical Expertise

  • In Vitro Fertilization (IVF): direction and hands-on management of natural-cycle and mild-stimulation programs built around minimal medication use
  • Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI): micromanipulation fertilization for male-factor infertility and fertilization failure
  • Female infertility diagnosis: ovulation disorders, endometriosis, tubal factors and age-related decline in ovarian reserve
  • International patient planning: treatment scheduling, cycle preparation and counseling for overseas patients, including Mandarin-speaking families

Why Choose Dr. Ni Xiaowen

As Medical Director, Dr. Ni sets and supervises clinical protocols at one of Japan’s highest-profile IVF clinics, so patients consulting with Dr. Ni receive guidance from the physician responsible for the clinic’s overall treatment standards.

Dr. Ni is also one of the very few senior fertility physicians in Japan who consults directly in Chinese. For Chinese-speaking patients, this removes the interpretation layer from the most important conversations: protocol choice, prognosis, and decisions about embryo transfer or genetic testing.

With close to 30 years in reproductive medicine across both Japan and China, Dr. Ni has followed the evolution of ART from early IVF programs to today’s mild-stimulation and time-lapse culture era, a depth of experience patients dealing with long infertility histories often find reassuring.
