About

About

Dr. Po-Chia Lu is vice medical director of Dr. Wang Reproductive Fertility Center (W BestIVF) in Taipei and one of the more prominent mid-career reproductive medicine researchers in Taiwan. He graduated from Chang Gung University’s School of Medicine and, before joining W BestIVF, rose through the Reproductive Medicine Department of Taipei Medical University Hospital as attending physician and then deputy chief — the same department lineage as center founder Dr. Chia-Wei Wang.

On the academic stage, Dr. Lu won a Prize Poster at the 2020 Taiwan Reproductive Medicine Annual Meeting, took first prize for oral presentation at the Taiwan Society for Reproductive Medicine in 2021, and was selected for oral presentations at the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) annual meeting in both 2022 and 2023 — ASRM oral slots are among the most competitive in the field, and consecutive selections are rare for Taiwan-based clinicians.

Clinically, his focus on advanced maternal age and premature ovarian failure matches the core demand of Taiwan’s later-marriage, later-childbearing trend. He is known for data-driven, candid counseling: quantifying the realistic odds of each retrieval and transfer, and mapping out alternatives — from protocol changes to donor egg timing — when ovarian reserve is declining. Colleagues internally refer to him as the most thorough egg-freezing assessor on the team.

Clinical Expertise

  • Advanced-age IVF (38+): more aggressive or individualized stimulation strategies, embryo selection and risk management for pregnancies at older maternal age
  • Premature ovarian failure / low reserve: systematic evaluation of AMH and antral follicle count, medication strategy, retrieval-window planning and counseling on donor egg pathways when appropriate
  • Individualized egg-freezing counseling: benefit assessment based on AMH, follicle count and age, with practical guidance on how many eggs to freeze and when to use them
  • Reproductive endocrinology: PCOS, thyroid and prolactin disorders and other endocrine causes of anovulation or implantation failure
  • Full-cycle IUI/IVF management: stimulation, monitoring, retrieval support and transfer, guided by current research evidence

Why Choose Dr. Po-Chia Lu

Deputy leadership of a university hospital reproductive program means Dr. Lu has managed the hardest referrals in a medical-center system — multiple failures, severely diminished reserve, complex endocrine cases — before bringing that discipline to a specialty clinic where patients get more time per visit.

His research on aging ovaries and stimulation strategy is not academic decoration: ASRM-accepted work directly informs how he designs protocols for borderline-age patients. And in a field where over-promising is a common complaint, patients consistently single out his willingness to state success odds honestly — “says the truth, plans solidly” is the recurring theme in their feedback.

Professional Affiliations

  • Taiwan Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology — Member
  • Academic recognitions: Prize Poster, Taiwan Reproductive Medicine Annual Meeting (2020); First Prize Oral Presentation, TSRM (2021); oral presentations, ASRM annual meetings (2022, 2023)

Suitable For

  • Advanced-maternal-age IVF patients: women over 38 who are preparing for or mid-way through IVF and need an individualized stimulation and embryo strategy
  • Premature ovarian failure patients: low AMH or declining reserve requires structured evaluation and a realistic multi-path plan, including when to consider donor egg programs
  • Women evaluating egg freezing: ideal for those who want their own numbers — reserve, yield expectations, survival rates — before committing to a cycle
