About
Rachel Mandelbaum invented a way to do IVF without the daily abdominal injections that define the experience for most patients. She calls it Needle-Free IVF: a small subcutaneous catheter delivers stimulation medication continuously, so patients skip the weeks of self-injection. It is the kind of practical innovation that comes from listening to what people dread about treatment — and it sits alongside a research career with more than 100 peer-reviewed publications.
She trained at UCLA’s David Geffen School of Medicine, where she led the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society as president, then completed residency at LAC+USC and an REI fellowship through USC and HRC Fertility. She holds clinical faculty at USC and has pursued early-embryo development research in collaboration with Magdalena Zernicka-Goetz’s laboratory at Caltech, work that sits at the front edge of stem-cell and embryo biology.
Her recognition is steady: the ASRM Prize Oral Award in 2019 and the Pacifica Coast Reproductive Society’s Excellence in Training Award in 2023 and 2024. She sees patients in English and Spanish across HRC’s West Los Angeles and Beverly Hills clinics, with a clinical focus that includes PCOS and congenital uterine anomalies.
