About

About

Six hundred operations in twelve months. That was the volume of Rony Elias’s fellowship year in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery at George Washington University in 2008 — the kind of repetition that turns laparoscopic technique into reflex. Most fellows stop there. Elias came to Weill Cornell’s Center for Reproductive Medicine and did a second fellowship, in reproductive endocrinology and infertility, completing it in 2011 and joining the CRM faculty the same year.

The result is the rare physician on a fertility service who is genuinely dual-credentialed: he runs IVF and IUI cycles and he operates on the reasons those cycles fail. Severe endometriosis, uterine anomalies, fibroids, adhesions — treated robotically, laparoscopically or hysteroscopically by the same doctor who will plan the transfer afterward. His surgical reputation is stated plainly by his center: “surgical skills and clinical results make him a star in his field.”

His third lane is male infertility. Elias has published on microdissection TESE — testicular sperm extraction for men with azoospermia, including non-obstructive cases — and presents this work at national meetings. Educated in Beirut at the American University of Beirut (M.D., 2002) before US training, he consults in English, Arabic and French, and splits clinic between CRM’s Upper East Side office and Mount Kisco in Westchester County. He is double board-certified in OB/GYN and reproductive endocrinology and infertility.

Clinical Expertise

  • Robotic and Laparoscopic Reproductive Surgery: Hysterotomy-level precision for fibroids, endometriosis and tubal disease, trained at 600-procedure volume
  • Hysteroscopic Surgery: Polyps, submucous fibroids, septa and adhesions corrected before transfer attempts
  • Severe Endometriosis: Excision-oriented surgical management aimed at restoring anatomy and ART access
  • IVF and IUI Cycles: Full medical management by a physician with an REI fellowship, not a surgical side interest
  • Male Factor Infertility / Micro-TESE: Published expertise in surgical sperm retrieval for azoospermic men
  • Uterine Factor Infertility: Research focus on how uterine conditions affect conception, and stimulation protocols for oocyte maturity and fertilization rates

Why Choose Dr. Elias

Two fellowships, applied to one patient. MIGS at GWU, REI at CRM — most practices need two doctors to cover what his CV covers alone; here the surgeon and the IVF prescriber confer in one head.

Surgical volume you can count. Over 600 procedures in his minimally invasive fellowship year, and an award record through training: the BERLEX Award for significant contribution to medical education, the GWU Resident Award for consistent excellence, and repeated honors for CREOG national exam scores.

He handles the male side too. Micro-TESE publication record means a couple’s surgical needs — hers and his — can stay on one service.

Three languages, two locations. English, Arabic and French consultations; clinics on Manhattan’s Upper East Side and in Mount Kisco for Westchester patients.

Professional Affiliations

American Society for Reproductive Medicine; Society for Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility; American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists. Double board-certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Associate Attending Obstetrician/Gynecologist at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital; presenter at national meetings on reproductive surgery and male infertility.

Suitable For

  • Patients whose infertility has a surgical cause: Endometriosis, fibroids, uterine septum, adhesions or tubal disease standing between them and a transfer
  • Severe endometriosis cases: A surgeon trained at high minimally invasive volume who then runs the ART cycles himself
  • Azoospermic men and their partners: Micro-TESE evaluation and retrieval with in-house IVF/ICSI follow-through
  • Couples wanting surgery and IVF sequenced by one physician: No handoff between a separate gynecologic surgeon and fertility doctor
  • Arabic- and French-speaking patients: Direct consultation in three languages across two office locations
