About
Dr. Sachie Onogi is an adjunct physician at Kato Ladies Clinic (KLC) in Shinjuku, Tokyo, and has been part of the clinic’s minimal-stimulation and natural-cycle IVF team since 2018. Her route into medicine was unconventional: a degree in applied natural sciences from Osaka University’s Faculty of Engineering in 2007, followed by graduate entry into Okayama University School of Medicine, where she earned her MD in 2012.
She then completed the full obstetrics and gynecology residency ladder at St. Luke’s International Hospital in Tokyo, one of Japan’s most internationally regarded hospitals, advancing from resident to senior resident and finally chief resident by 2016. That trajectory means she handled labor, gynecological surgery and reproductive cases at high volume before specializing in fertility care.
Dr. Onogi brings a scientist’s training and a hospitalist’s breadth to consultations on reproductive endocrinology, IVF planning and women’s preventive health.
Clinical Expertise
- In Vitro Fertilization (IVF): management of natural-cycle and mild-stimulation treatment from monitoring through egg retrieval and embryo transfer
- Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI): micromanipulation fertilization for male-factor and unexplained infertility
- Female infertility care: ovulation disorders, endometriosis, tubal factors and age-related fertility decline
- Women’s health and preconception medicine: hormonal evaluation and health optimization before pregnancy
Why Choose Dr. Sachie Onogi
Dr. Onogi is one of KLC’s physicians with formal double certification, holding the JSRM Certified Specialist in Reproductive Medicine credential alongside the Japan Society for Women’s Health Certified Specialist title. Patients with concurrent conditions such as thyroid disease, PCOS or perimenopausal change benefit from that whole-body framing of fertility care.
Her engineering science background at Osaka University shows in an evidence-first consultation style, and her years as chief resident at St. Luke’s International Hospital gave her experience managing complex inpatient cases, useful for patients with significant gynecological histories.
She joined KLC in 2018, so she now has seven-plus years of continuous mild-stimulation ART practice at one of Japan’s busiest natural-cycle programs, an uncommon depth for a physician early enough in her career to spend ample time with each patient.
