About

About

Dallas-Fort Worth Fertility Associates exists because Samuel J. Chantilis started it in 1999, and he has been its medical director ever since. Before the private practice, he built the IVF service at the Presbyterian Hospital ARTS program, a hospital-based program he has continued to lead since the same year and which Child magazine named among the ten best fertility centers in the country in 2005. Thirty-plus years in one market is the unusual fact about his profile: most reproductive endocrinologists rotate through academic centers. Chantilis stayed, and the five-office North Texas practice that grew around him does donor egg cycles at the scale of a regional referral program rather than a single clinic.

He is board-certified in reproductive endocrinology and infertility, trained in ob/gyn at Baylor College of Medicine and in REI at UT Southwestern Medical School, the same school where he earned his MD in 1987 and later taught for five and a half years. His undergraduate degree is in chemistry from Southern Methodist University. He sees patients at the Glen Lakes office in south Dallas, which is also where the practice’s main IVF laboratory sits.

His procedural numbers are the other reason patients ask for him by name: approximately 2,500 egg retrievals and more than 500 donor egg cases completed personally. In practice terms, that means he has run the retrieval suite and the donor schedule long enough that the log — donor screening, stimulation of a young donor, synchronization with the recipient, fertilization, transfer — is rehearsed rather than improvised. He is a D Magazine Best Doctors in Dallas selection across multiple years, and the practice he directs was ranked #31 on Newsweek’s 2023 list of the top 100 US fertility clinics.

Clinical Expertise

  • Donor egg IVF and third-party reproduction: more than 500 completed donor cases, covering donor recruitment and screening, cycle synchronization, and transfer into the recipient
  • IVF cycle management: stimulation design across age groups and diagnoses, with his own hands on retrievals — roughly 2,500 of them
  • ICSI: micromanipulation fertilization for male factor and for donor eggs where timing has to be exact
  • Reproductive surgery: hysteroscopic and laparoscopic evaluation and treatment of the uterine cavity, tubes and pelvis
  • Fertility preservation: egg and embryo freezing before chemotherapy, radiation or surgical treatment, and for patients delaying childbearing
  • Female infertility workup: systematic assessment of ovulatory, tubal, uterine and endometrial causes, with PCOS management across lifestyle, medication and IVF tiers

Why Choose Dr. Samuel J. Chantilis

He built the program he runs. The practice’s donor egg volume, its Glen Lakes laboratory and its Plano satellite all trace back to a physician who went into independent practice in 1999 rather than taking an academic post. Continuity of that kind is what lets a complex third-party cycle be scheduled end to end without a committee.

Donor egg cases at individual scale. Most clinics report program totals. The figure attached to Chantilis personally is more than 500 donor egg cases, plus roughly 2,500 retrievals, which is the specific experience that matters if you need a donated-egg cycle.

Teacher and clinician in the same system. Five and a half years on the UT Southwestern faculty, where he also earned his MD, followed by Baylor residency and UT Southwestern fellowship: he came through the Texas academic pipeline before spending three decades in Dallas private practice.
