About
Dr. Samuel Pang holds the job at Boston IVF that requires the most coordination in all of fertility care: he leads the Third Party Reproduction Program, the pathway for patients who will build families with a donor egg and/or a gestational carrier (surrogate). Donor matching, legal screening of carriers, cycle synchronization across two or three women, and the counseling that goes with each — that program runs through him at the Waltham center.
His standing in the region predates that role. He trained in OB/GYN at the University of Toronto and did his REI fellowship at UCLA, was an Assistant Professor of Gynecology and Obstetrics at Loma Linda University School of Medicine, then served as Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Deaconess Waltham Hospital — the local hospital whose operating rooms fertility surgeons use. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, a Fellow of ACOG, a Licentiate of the Medical Council of Canada and a diplomat of the US National Board of Medical Examiners. He has served as president of the New England Fertility Society and published widely on menopause, infertility, ART and andrology, with a declared special interest in male infertility alongside third-party options.
The profession has recognized the human dimension of his practice: the ASRM Arnold P. Gold Foundation Humanism in Medicine Award for Practicing Physicians (2022) and RESOLVE’s Hope Award for Achievement (2024), on top of consecutive Boston Magazine Top Fertility Doctor listings (2013-2024) and Castle Connolly selections. And he holds no detached view of treatment: his two sons were conceived through IVF, a fact he cites for appreciating the process from both the patient and physician chair. Note: Dr. Pang is not accepting new patients at this time.
Clinical Expertise
- Third-Party Reproduction: Donor egg programs and gestational carrier cycles — program leadership, not occasional cases
- Male Infertility: A stated special interest, unusual among REI-trained physicians and directly relevant to ICSI decision-making
- IVF and ICSI: Three decades of cycle management on both sides of the US-Canada border
- PGT-A: Embryo genetic testing within complex donor and carrier cycles
- Menopause and Reproductive Endocrinology: Published research background beyond fertility treatment itself
Why Choose Dr. Samuel Pang
The program leader for surrogacy and donor egg families in this network. If your path involves a donated egg or a carrier, his portfolio is that path’s operational design.
Dual-country credentials. Canadian and American board fellowships and licensure training mean fluency in two regulatory systems.
Humanism awards from two directions. ASRM’s Gold Humanism prize and RESOLVE’s patient-advocacy award recognize the same thing from the physician side and the patient side.
A personal IVF history. His sons were conceived through the treatment he prescribes; he says so precisely because it changes how he counsels.
