About
Sharrón Manuel earned both an MD and a PhD, and she spends her research hours on a question that does not yet have a clean answer: how inflammation ages the ovary. It is a line of inquiry that connects a basic scientist’s training to a very clinical problem — patients whose fertility declines faster than their years predict — and it runs through her nineteen peer-reviewed publications.
She built her credentials across four institutions: a biomedical engineering undergraduate degree and her combined MD/PhD at Drexel University, an OB/GYN residency at the University of Kentucky, a master’s in Reproductive Science and Medicine at Northwestern University, and her REI fellowship at the University of Cincinnati. Her early research was recognized with a Drexel Graduate Citation Award and a Society for the Study of Reproduction Burroughs Wellcome Travel Junior Faculty Fellowship.
Alongside the science, she works on health equity — a stated focus on bridging racial health disparities in reproductive care — and brings a biomedical-engineering habit of quantifying problems to her practice at HRC Fertility Pasadena.
Clinical Expertise
- Inflammation-Related Infertility: Evaluation and management where immune and inflammatory factors impair fertility
- Ovarian Aging and Premature Ovarian Insufficiency: Assessment and treatment of accelerated decline in reserve
- Fertility Preservation: Egg and embryo freezing for medical and elective indications
- Female Infertility: Reproductive evaluation and treatment, informed by an engineering-research background
Why Choose Dr. Manuel
An MD/PhD who studies the mechanism. She treats inflammation-driven infertility while researching why it happens.
Engineer’s training, physician’s practice. A biomedical engineering foundation and a quantitative approach to ovarian aging.
Advocacy built into the work. A named focus on closing racial health disparities in reproductive medicine.
Professional Affiliations
Diplomate of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology; Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists; member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine.
