About
Dr. Yuichi Furukawa is an adjunct physician at Kato Ladies Clinic (KLC) in Shinjuku, Tokyo, joining the clinic’s minimal-stimulation and natural-cycle IVF team in 2023. He brings an academic-research profile and full-service obstetrics leadership experience rarely found together in one fertility clinician.
He graduated from Oita Medical University (now Oita University) in 2002, trained in its obstetrics and gynecology department, and earned his PhD from Oita University’s Graduate School of Medical Sciences in 2008. From 2010 he built and led the obstetrics and gynecology service at Nakatsu Municipal Hospital, rising from chief to department director, while serving as assistant professor at Oita University Faculty of Medicine.
In 2013 he took a research fellowship in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Northwestern University in the United States, an institution with one of America’s leading reproductive biology programs. He remains a member of the Society for Reproductive Investigation and has practiced fertility-focused medicine in Tokyo since 2019.

- Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI): micromanipulation fertilization for severe male-factor infertility

- Reproductive biology-informed practice: application of research training in oocyte and embryo biology to laboratory-linked treatment decisions
Why Choose Dr. Yuichi Furukawa
Northwestern University is home to one of the world’s best-known reproductive medicine research programs, and Dr. Furukawa’s fellowship there, alongside his ongoing SRI membership, means his clinical habits are shaped by current international research rather than local convention alone.
His years directing a municipal hospital obstetrics and gynecology department gave him complete operational responsibility for pregnancies, deliveries and gynecological emergencies, experience that informs how he manages fertility patients with fibroids, adenomyosis or medical comorbidities.
He is certified in reproductive medicine by the Japanese Society for Reproductive Medicine and covers the male side of infertility within KLC’s program, allowing couples to address both partners’ factors in one clinic pathway.
