About
Dr. Yutaka Osuga is an advisor to Kato Ladies Clinic (KLC) in Shinjuku, Tokyo, appointed in 2025. He is one of the most senior academic figures in Japanese reproductive medicine, and his move into KLC’s advisory role links one of the country’s largest IVF clinics with the top tier of its university research establishment.
He graduated from the University of Tokyo Faculty of Medicine in 1985, earned his medical doctorate in 1995 with research training at Stanford University, and returned to lead the University of Tokyo’s Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology as professor and chair from 2013, additionally serving as vice director of University of Tokyo Hospital from 2019. He was named Professor Emeritus in 2025 and is concurrently Professor and Director of the Clinical Research Center at Teikyo University.
His research program, spanning hundreds of papers on endometriosis, infertility and reproductive biology, sits behind his current presidency of the Japan Society of Fertilization and Implantation, the academic society at the center of Japan’s ART research community.
Clinical Expertise
- In Vitro Fertilization (IVF): advisory review of treatment strategy for complex, advanced-age and repeated-failure patients within KLC’s mild-stimulation framework
- Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI): guidance on fertilization strategy for severe male-factor cases
- PGT-A and embryo evaluation: oversight of genetic screening decisions informed by developmental biology research
- Endometriosis-associated infertility: one of Japan’s leading authorities on how endometriosis impairs fertility and how to sequence surgery, medication and ART
Why Choose Dr. Yutaka Osuga
Patients who consult Dr. Osuga are meeting the sitting president of the Japan Society of Fertilization and Implantation and a former chair of the University of Tokyo’s obstetrics and gynecology department, a credential set that in Japan is normally reachable only through academic hospital queues.
His endometriosis research program is internationally cited, making him a distinctive option for the large population of infertility patients whose treatment is complicated by endometriosis, a condition that affects both egg quality and surgical decision-making around ART.
At KLC he contributes as advisor rather than rotating clinician, which positions him for second opinions, protocol review and cases where a patient’s history across multiple clinics needs authoritative synthesis.
