About
Dr. Zaraq Khan went back for a second fellowship. After Mayo Clinic residency, an REI fellowship and a master’s in clinical and translational science, he completed additional training in minimally invasive gynecologic and reproductive surgery in Europe as a Mayo Clinic Scholar — and he has spent his career in the overlap since: benign gynecologic disease and infertility handled together, medical and surgical, in one practice.
The field has put him in position to set its standards. He is co-chair of the Society of Reproductive Surgeons’ Practice Committee and serves as a Surgical Scholars Track site director — the training pipeline that produces physicians like his division colleague Dr. Neblett — and in 2025 he was the mentor behind an ASRM DeCherney-Nezhat Traveling Scholars award. His operative list covers complex endometriosis, fibroids and Mullerian anomalies through minimally invasive surgery; his clinical list adds ovarian and uterine transplantation as a stated interest, alongside fertility preservation.
Board certifications came early and stack cleanly: ABOG ob/gyn in 2014, REI in 2018. He is an assistant professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, trains residents and fellows, and has authored over 45 peer-reviewed publications plus book chapters and research presentations. An ASRM 2024 Scientific Congress video award (second place) speaks to how he operates — literally; surgical video awards judge the technique on screen.
Clinical Expertise
- Minimally invasive reproductive surgery: complex endometriosis, uterine fibroids and Mullerian anomalies, repaired rather than worked around; tubal reanastomosis (reversal) included.
- Infertility with a disease process behind it: his stated specialty is managing endometriosis and associated infertility together, and fibroids and adenomyosis with or without infertility.
- Pelvic ultrasound: he reads and uses pelvic imaging as part of the workup — a named clinical expertise, not an afterthought.
- Full ART cycle services: IVF, ICSI, IUI, egg retrieval and freezing, embryo freezing and transfer, ovulation induction and superovulation, preimplantation genetic screening.
- Fertility preservation and organ transplantation: deferred reproduction, plus ovarian and uterine transplantation among his research interests — the division’s overview lists ovarian transplant among Mayo’s integrated services.
- Surgical diagnostics and repair: diagnostic hysteroscopy and laparoscopy, myomectomy, endometriosis surgery, polypectomy, tubal ligation reversal, ovary transplant procedures on his list.
Why Choose Dr. Khan
Fellowship-trained twice — fertility medicine and its surgery. Few US reproductive specialists hold both the REI credential and dedicated minimally invasive gynecologic surgery training; his came through a European fellowship as a Mayo Scholar.
He helps write the rules of his subspecialty. Co-chair of the Society of Reproductive Surgeons’ Practice Committee and a Surgical Scholars Track site director — the pipeline training the next dual-trained surgeons.
A diagnosed-and-operated workflow. Pelvic ultrasound expertise means the imaging that decides your plan is done by the surgeon who would carry it out.
Prolific and recognized: 45+ peer-reviewed papers, an ASRM 2024 surgical video award, and a national traveling-scholars mentorship in 2025.

Suitable For
- Endometriosis that is causing the infertility: surgery and cycle management by one physician who studies the disease process, not just the symptoms.
- Fibroids or adenomyosis with fertility goals: diagnosis, imaging and minimally repair through a single clinic.
- A congenitally unusual uterus: Mullerian anomaly reconstruction is a named operative focus.
- Tubal reversal: microsurgical reanastomosis sits inside his listed interests.
- Transplant-adjacent questions: ovarian and uterine transplantation are his research territory, inside a division that offers ovarian transplant.
