About
Dr. Hadi Ramadan’s residency years at Eastern Virginia Medical School were spent partly inside the Jones Institute — the laboratory where the first baby in the United States was conceived through IVF in 1981. He collected award after award for research done there, was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society, and left with a habit of publishing that has produced more than 17 peer-reviewed papers since.
Before Virginia, he earned his MD at the American University of Beirut and spent two years at the University of Chicago studying the pathophysiology of preeclampsia — pregnancy hypertension research that appears repeatedly in his early publication list (Hypertension, Pregnancy Hypertension). He completed his REI fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School and now practices at Boston IVF’s Downtown Boston and Westborough centers, with telehealth available across Massachusetts.
His research as a specialist has pivoted to the IVF lab itself: fertility preservation outcomes (his work showed cryopreservation does not affect pregnancy rates for blastocysts from vitrified oocytes), PCOS, embryo culture conditions, and transfer technique, including trophoblast grading as a predictor of early pregnancy hormone rise. He presents at ASRM, AAGL, PCRS, SRI and ISSHP meetings, and he consults fluently in Arabic.
Clinical Expertise
- PCOS Management: Stimulation strategies for polycystic ovaries, a declared research focus
- Fertility Preservation: Oocyte cryopreservation outcomes research and clinical egg freezing, including student-attitude studies that informed preservation counseling
- Embryo Transfer Technique: Culture conditions and transfer mechanics are named research interests — the fine details that decide whether a good embryo implants
- IVF and ICSI: Including SART registry analyses of ICSI with testicular sperm in azoospermic men
- PGT-A and Early Pregnancy Monitoring: Trophectoderm grade and beta-hCG rise as outcome predictors
Why Choose Dr. Ramadan
Trained at the historic center of American IVF. The Jones Institute work earned him best-resident research awards; that lineage shows in his technique-obsessed publication record.
An Alpha Omega Alpha inductee. The honors society recognizes the top tier of each medical class — awarded during his residency, not recalled fondly after it.
Research that reads like a checklist of patient questions. Freeze or fresh? Which culture conditions? Does trophectoderm grade matter? He has published on each.
Care in Arabic. Fluent Arabic consultation at Downtown Boston and Westborough, plus telehealth statewide.
