About
Ask what the hardest part of an IVF cycle is and most physicians say the injections. For a Mandarin- or Cantonese-speaking patient doing monitoring scans in Manhattan, the hardest part is often the language — consent forms, stimulation instructions, the exact words for what went wrong last time. Pak H. Chung removes that variable. Born in Hong Kong, medically trained at the University of Hong Kong, he consults in Chinese with no interpreter in the room, and his office staff and patient literature are bilingual.
He arrived at this continuity early: residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Rochester (1994), reproductive endocrinology fellowship at the University of South Florida (1996), and a CRM faculty appointment the same year — he has practiced inside the same Center ever since. His clinical range covers the full toolkit: ovulation induction and IUI, in vitro fertilization, egg freezing and fertility preservation, and reproductive surgery, with particular experience in laparoscopic and hysteroscopic treatment of the structural problems that block conception — tubal disease, cysts, endometriosis, fibroids.
Recurrent pregnancy loss is his named depth area, worked up across genetic, anatomic, endocrine, immunologic and thrombophilic angles. Beyond the clinic he has led the Chinese American Medical Society as President, serves on boards supporting the Chinatown health community, lectures internationally, and has published peer-reviewed articles and chapters throughout. He is double board-certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Why Choose Dr. Chung
A career in one center. He joined CRM in 1996 immediately after fellowship; patients get institutional memory of the lab, the nurses and the protocols rather than a recent transfer.
Chinese-language care at the physician level, not the hotline level. He grew up in Hong Kong’s medical system and consults in both Mandarin and Cantonese; the office carries bilingual staff and written materials.
Surgeon and IVF doctor in one appointment. Structural problems that need laparoscopy or hysteroscopy do not get outsourced to a colleague — he operates, then runs the cycles that follow.
Community leadership, documented. Past President of the Chinese American Medical Society, board service for Chinatown health clinics, and active support of infertility patient organizations in the US and Hong Kong.
