About Dakhno Institute of Reproductive Medicine
The Dakhno Institute of Reproductive Medicine (Instytut Reproduktyvnoyi Medytsyny Dakhno, IRM Dakhno) is a Kyiv fertility center founded by Fedir Vlasovych Dakhno, one of the founding figures of Ukrainian reproductive medicine. Its predecessor, the Dakhno Laboratory, opened in 1992 as one of Kyiv’s first private assisted-reproduction clinics, and in 1994 it grew into the Institute of Reproductive Medicine, giving the clinic more than 30 years of continuous practice.
The institute has a record of national firsts: a Ukrainian team led by Professor Dakhno completed the country’s first in-vitro fertilization experiment in 1984; the first Ukrainian IVF baby was born in 1991; the first intra-abdominal insemination (DIPI) birth followed in 1993; Ukraine’s first successful donor-egg IVF for a woman without ovaries was achieved in 1995; ICSI was introduced in 1997; and a six-month frozen embryo transfer succeeded in 2003. According to the institute’s own 2026 materials, it supports the birth of more than 500 babies each year and reports embryology outcomes in line with leading European fertility centers (clinic-reported figures; no age-specific rates are published).
The clinic operates a full departmental structure — reproductive medicine, embryology, an outpatient women’s clinic, surgical gynecology and an in-house cryobank — so diagnosis, treatment and pregnancy care happen under one roof.

Why Choose Dakhno Institute of Reproductive Medicine
- A founding name in Ukrainian IVF: Established by Professor Fedir Dakhno, whose team delivered many of Ukraine’s first ART milestones, the institute has been at the centre of the country’s reproductive medicine for over 30 years
- European-standard embryology: ICSI, IMSI (morphological sperm selection at up to 6,300x magnification), PICSI, laser-assisted hatching and vitrification are performed in an in-house laboratory
- Own cryobank with redundant safety: an independent power supply and 24-hour monitoring protect frozen eggs, sperm and embryos
- Complete, coordinated pathway: reproductive medicine, embryology, gynecology, andrology, genetics and pregnancy management in one institution, so patients do not move between providers
- Personalized protocols: natural-cycle IVF (no hormones), mild stimulation and conventional stimulation are all offered and matched to each patient’s history and ovarian reserve
- Donor and surrogacy programs: a large in-house donor database with phenotype and blood-group matching, plus legally supported gestational surrogacy
IVF & Fertility Services
- IVF (In Vitro Fertilization) — conventional, natural-cycle and mild-stimulation programs
- ICSI / IMSI / PICSI — from standard micromanipulation to morphologically and physiologically selected sperm injection

Fees & Packages
The institute offers IVF programs with medication packages, noting that prepaid packages are more economical and that medications are sourced through its own pharmacy channel to guarantee authenticity and correct storage (source: Dakhno Institute official website, 2026). Surrogacy program pricing covers diagnostics, the IVF protocol and medications, surrogate travel and accommodation, pregnancy medical support, delivery (vaginal or caesarean) and legal procedures. Exact figures in Ukrainian hryvnia or USD are not published on the collected pages; international patients should request an itemized written quote in USD before travel.

Local Legal Framework
Ukrainian law expressly permits assisted reproductive technologies, including IVF, ICSI, IUI and PGT. Gestational surrogacy is legal in Ukraine and sits within a defined statutory framework. The main instruments are Order No. 787 of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine (“On Approval of the Procedure for the Application of Assisted Reproductive Technologies in Ukraine”), which sets the clinical rules for ART, and Article 123 of the Family Code of Ukraine, which establishes the legal parentage of children born through artificial insemination and embryo transfer and confirms the intended parents as the legal parents of a child born via surrogacy. Regarding ownership of biological material, eggs and sperm belong to the individual, while embryos are the joint property of the married couple. Surrogacy requires a qualifying medical indication (such as absence of the uterus, uterine anomalies, health conditions preventing pregnancy or repeated IVF failure), and a surrogate must be a woman aged 18-35, in good physical and mental health, with at least one healthy child of her own and written consent from her husband. Patients should verify current requirements and any wartime-related administrative measures directly with the clinic and the relevant Ukrainian authorities before treatment.
