About

About NYU Langone Fertility Center

NYU Langone Fertility Center (NYULFC) is one of New York City’s leading fertility clinics, operating as part of NYU Langone Health and a proud member of The Prelude Network®. Since 1992, the center has helped more than 17,000 babies be born and completed over 6,000 egg freezing cycles, backed by a team with 175+ years of combined clinical experience.

The center’s 10 board-certified reproductive endocrinologists are all certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (REI), and many hold Professor or Assistant Professor appointments at NYU Grossman School of Medicine. The clinic maintains three locations — Manhattan’s East Side (159 E 53rd St), NoMad (109 W 27th St), and Westchester (132 Parkway Rd, Bronxville) — serving patients across the New York City metro area.

Accreditations & Awards

  • Pioneer in egg freezing: NYULFC was among the first globally to establish egg freezing as a viable fertility preservation option; its groundbreaking work contributed to ASRM removing the “experimental” label from egg freezing in 2011
  • NYU Vitrification Method: Developed by Dr. James Grifo’s research team, in use at the center since 2004; the center’s first egg-freezing live birth was in July 2005
  • First embryo biopsy live birth in the U.S.: Dr. James Grifo performed the first embryo biopsy resulting in a live birth in 1992, pioneering PGD/PGT clinical application
  • Castle Connolly Top Doctors 2026: Six of the center’s specialists were recognized as 2026 Top Doctors
  • SART member clinic: Reports cycle data to SART and the CDC, maintaining data transparency
  • Leading laboratory outcomes: Implantation rates above 62% for patients 37 and younger using their own eggs; more than 1,100 autologous egg thaw procedures with outcomes comparable to fresh eggs

Fees & Packages

The center publishes a transparent pricing guide on its website but does not disclose fixed public prices. Costs vary by treatment type (IVF, IUI, egg freezing, donor egg/sperm use, gestational carrier), number of cycles, and medications. Advanced lab services such as genetic testing and storage add to total cost. The BUNDL program offers a 100% IVF refund package. Financial counselors help verify insurance benefits including Progyny and WINFertility.

Patient Journey

  1. Book a consultation: Schedule online through the center’s appointment system; telehealth initial visits are available
  2. Comprehensive fertility assessment: Hormone panel (FSH, LH, estradiol), AMH, pelvic ultrasound, antral follicle count for women; semen analysis for men
  3. Personalized treatment plan: Your physician and care team develop an individualized plan based on age, diagnosis, and goals — IVF, IUI, egg freezing, egg donation, or third-party reproduction
  4. Cycle treatment with lab support: Ovarian stimulation → ultrasound and blood monitoring → egg retrieval (IV sedation, under 30 minutes) → ICSI → embryo culture (5-6 day blastocysts with time-lapse) → PGT (if applicable) → fresh or frozen embryo transfer
  5. Pregnancy confirmation and follow-up: Blood β-hCG test 10-12 days after transfer, ultrasound follow-up to heartbeat confirmation (6-8 weeks), then referral to obstetrics
  6. International patient support: Multilingual services and telehealth follow-up available
  • Surrogacy: Legal in New York since the 2021 Child-Parent Security Act, allowing commercial surrogacy with pre-birth parentage orders
  • Egg/sperm donation: Governed by New York Public Health Law Article 28; donations require written agreements with the donor relinquishing parental rights
  • PGT: No special legal restrictions; standard medical informed consent and CLIA laboratory quality standards apply
  • LGBTQ+ family building: New York law protects the family-building rights of LGBTQ+ individuals, including surrogacy and donor-assisted reproduction
  • Embryo status: New York has not defined the legal status of embryos; disposition is governed by reproductive agreements
  • Insurance: New York State mandates large-group insurance plans to cover medically necessary fertility preservation (including egg freezing); elective egg freezing and self-funded plans are exempt

Run. Booking an appointment and cancelling has been frustrating enough. Scheduled one month out, and have been calling for days to cancel or you get charged $75. I started the process elsewhere that treats me like a patient not a parking ticket.

The doctor was friendly but most staff members were somehow so passive aggressive, sort of entitled, and incompetent. My brief interaction with them was extremely uncomfortable and stressful, I have decided to go with other providers.

I love how quick and organized the NYU 53rd Street location is, but I still go to the NoMad branch because that’s where my doctor is. Both have their strengths, but the staff and efficiency at 53rd really stand out.
