The Women’s Clinic — Central Hong Kong IVF & Fertility Center
About The Women’s Clinic
The Women’s Clinic sits on the 12th floor of Central Tower at 28 Queen’s Road Central, in the heart of Hong Kong’s financial district. It is one of the city’s longest-standing private assisted-reproduction brands, part of The Women’s Clinic Group formed when the legacy Reproductive Healthcare (Po Tak) brand and The Women’s Clinic merged into the current group entity in 2018 (reported by Hong Kong business media, May 2018).
The group’s founding team has deep roots in local IVF: a founding member created Hong Kong’s first test-tube baby in 1986 (clinic milestone page), and the team went on to achieve 11 ART “firsts” in Hong Kong between 1986 and 2005. Today the group runs three fertility centres in Central and Tsim Sha Tsui plus a biochemistry laboratory, with an IVF laboratory attached to each centre.
A practical advantage for patients: the affiliated IVF laboratory, The IVF Clinic, operates on the 13th floor of the same building, so egg retrieval and embryo culture require no off-site travel. The clinic offers IVF/ICSI, fertility assessment, PGT, egg freezing, hysteroscopic surgery, antenatal care and traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) fertility support. The official website does not publish age-specific success rates; its IVF pages describe treatment qualitatively — ovulation induction increases the number of embryos available, and typically 1–2 embryos (up to three) are transferred to balance pregnancy rates against multiple-pregnancy risk. Group-wide results reporting for Hong Kong centres is handled by the Council on Human Reproductive Technology (CHRT), which publishes territory-wide ART statistics.
Accreditations & Awards
- CHRT Treatment Licence T4005 — held by the affiliated laboratory The IVF Clinic (13/F Central Tower), covering ICSI and embryo biopsy for PGT (CHRT licensed-centres list, as of 1 September 2026)
- Group licences: T4010 (Reproductive Healthcare, Prince’s Building, Central) and T2005 (Reproductive Healthcare TST, Mira Place Tower A) — both also include embryo biopsy scope (CHRT official list)
- 11 Hong Kong ART firsts (1986-2005 milestone page) — including Hong Kong’s first IVF baby (1986), first frozen-embryo baby (1993), first ICSI babies (1996), first laser-assisted hatching baby (2001) and first in-vitro-matured-egg baby (2005) (clinic milestone page)
Hong Kong has no SART/CAP/RTAC framework; the statutory CHRT treatment licence under the Human Reproductive Technology Ordinance (Cap. 561) is the authoritative entry credential, and only 19 licensed treatment centres operate in the city (CHRT list, September 2026).
Why Choose The Women’s Clinic
- Same-building IVF laboratory — consultation on 12/F and the licensed embryology lab on 13/F of Central Tower mean retrieval and transfer happen in one address
- Pioneering reproductive team — reproductive-medicine subspecialists, several holding the Hong Kong College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists’ Certification in Reproductive Medicine
- Full technology range — conventional IVF and ICSI through PGT with embryo biopsy, all handled by the affiliated licensed laboratory
- Integrated TCM fertility support — a Chinese-medicine fertility clinic within the group combines traditional conditioning with modern ART
- Multilingual service — Cantonese, Mandarin and English; a WeChat service channel (since 2022) supports mainland Chinese patients
IVF & Fertility Services
- IVF and ICSI — the group’s core program since 1986, spanning first- to third-generation techniques, with the affiliated laboratory licensed for embryo biopsy
- Preimplantation Genetic Testing (PGT) — embryo genetic screening to reduce miscarriage from chromosomal or genetic defects
- Fertility assessment — ovarian reserve testing (AMH), hormone panels, ultrasound and semen analysis
- Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) — for mild male factor, cervical or unexplained infertility
- Egg freezing (oocyte cryopreservation) — full-cycle program taking about two weeks from stimulation to vitrified storage; Hong Kong law limits egg storage to 10 years (clinic egg-freezing page)
- Gynecology and hysteroscopic surgery — from vaccinations and annual checks to fertility evaluation and menopause care
- Antenatal care and delivery — prenatal diagnosis, fetal screening and birth planning
- TCM fertility support — traditional conditioning alongside ART treatment
Fees & Packages
The clinic does not publish prices on its website. Treatment costs — consultation fees, monitoring scans, blood tests, medications, laboratory procedures and storage — are quoted after an initial assessment; ask the clinic for a written breakdown confirming which items are included before starting a cycle. A free one-to-one counselling session (not a medical consultation) is available to discuss IVF, IUI or egg-freezing options, and international patients should budget in Hong Kong dollars (HKD) with credit cards accepted. As a rough regional reference, a private IVF cycle in Hong Kong typically runs in the tens of thousands of US dollars — the clinic will confirm exact figures at consultation.
Patient Journey
The sequence below is taken from the clinic’s FAQ and IVF program pages:
- Free counselling (optional) — a one-to-one session to review options; a first medical appointment is usually arranged within two weeks
- First consultation (30–45 minutes) — bring marriage certificate, ID documents and all prior medical records; partners are advised to attend together
- Baseline testing — ultrasound, physical examination, blood tests and semen analysis as needed
- Personalized treatment plan — the physician designs the protocol; patients may request the same doctor for the entire cycle
- IVF cycle — couple’s fertility assessment → ovulation induction → ultrasound and blood monitoring of egg growth → egg retrieval → sperm preparation and fertilization → embryo culture → PGT if indicated → embryo transfer → blood pregnancy test
- Egg-freezing track — ovarian reserve assessment → stimulation (cycle day 2/3 to day 12, 4–5 monitoring visits) → painless retrieval on day 13/14 → vitrification → liquid-nitrogen storage (about two weeks end to end)
- Ongoing care — after consent forms are signed, the patient may continue the cycle without the partner attending every visit
Local Legal Framework
Assisted reproduction in Hong Kong is governed by the Human Reproductive Technology Ordinance (Cap. 561), enforced by the Council on Human Reproductive Technology (CHRT), which issues treatment, storage, research and AIH licences. Only 19 centres currently hold treatment licences (CHRT list, September 2026). The Women’s Clinic’s IVF treatment is carried out under its affiliated laboratory’s licence T4005, which includes embryo biopsy; group clinics in Central (T4010) and Tsim Sha Tsui (T2005) hold their own licences. Commercial surrogacy is prohibited in Hong Kong; gamete and embryo donation and spouse-status requirements follow the CHRT Code of Ethical and Clinical Practice in Reproductive Technologies. Under Hong Kong law, frozen eggs may be stored for a maximum of 10 years (disclosed on the clinic’s egg-freezing page). Licence status can be verified against CHRT’s public register of licensed centres.
