About Center for Reproductive Medicine
Founded in July 1987, the Center for Reproductive Medicine (CRM) is an independent fertility practice serving the Minneapolis-St. Paul area. As a physician-owned practice, CRM says every medical decision is made with the patient’s best interest in mind — “not quotas or corporate targets.” The practice also states patients are cared for by the same doctor from their first visit through treatment and beyond.
CRM is a member of the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology (SART) and the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), and runs its own andrology lab alongside its embryology lab. According to the SART 2023 report, CRM reported 1,829 cycles, with IVF live birth rates exceeding the national average in every age category.
The practice runs two locations in the Twin Cities — Minneapolis (main) and St. Paul — and offers monitoring and care 7 days a week, so a treatment cycle is never interrupted by a weekend or holiday.

Why Choose Center for Reproductive Medicine
Physician-owned decision making: The practice says every medical decision is made by its doctors based on patient needs, not corporate quotas or group targets. You will be cared for by the same physician from initial consultation through treatment.
In-house embryology and andrology labs: The lab is led by Laboratory Director Douglas T. Carrell, Ph.D., H.C.L.D., and includes an andrology lab offering semen analysis and testicular sperm extraction (TESE).
Proven success above national averages: In the SART 2023 report, CRM’s IVF live birth rates exceeded the national average in every age category, including 60.4% for patients under 35.
Inclusive care for every family: CRM welcomes patients of all sexual orientations and gender identities, offering donor egg and gestational carrier options. The practice names LGBTQ+ couples, single parents by choice, and couples growing their family among the patients it supports.
100% Refund Program (ATTAIN IVF): Patients pay a single discounted fee for up to 6 cycles (3 IVF + 3 frozen transfers). If they do not bring home a baby, they receive a 100% refund.
IVF & Fertility Services
- IVF (In Vitro Fertilization): Complete IVF services including personalized ovarian stimulation, egg retrieval, embryo culture and transfer. SART 2023 data shows a cumulative live birth rate of 60.4% for patients under 35 — above the national average
- ICSI (Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection): Used in over half of IVF cycles for male factor infertility
- PGT (Preimplantation Genetic Testing): PGT-A (aneuploidy screening) and PGT-M (monogenic disease testing), approximately $7,000 additional
- IUI (Intrauterine Insemination): Ovarian stimulation combined with intrauterine insemination, which can double or triple the monthly chance of conception
- Egg Freezing: Elective and medically indicated egg freezing with an annual storage fee of $900
- Donor Egg Program: Full support for both recipients and donors; the practice itself calls it “one of the most successful donor egg programs available today”
- Fertility Preservation: Rapid egg/embryo freezing for oncology patients and others facing fertility-threatening treatments
- Fertility Evaluation: Comprehensive diagnostics including ovarian reserve testing, HSG, and semen analysis
- LGBTQ+ Family Building: Donor egg and gestational carrier options
- Male Infertility Services: Andrology lab testing, TESE for cases with no sperm in the ejaculate
Fees & Packages
CRM is structured as two entities: The Center for Reproductive Medicine, P.A. (CRM) provides consultations, diagnostics, monitoring, and IUI, and participates with most major insurance carriers; Advanced Reproductive Technologies, P.A. (ART) provides IVF services, accepting some insurance reimbursement with prepayment required when not covered.
- ATTAIN IVF 100% Refund Program: A single discounted fee covers up to 6 cycles (3 IVF + 3 frozen transfers); 100% refund if no baby is brought home
- PGT: Approximately $7,000 additional (includes ICSI, biopsy, testing, freezing, FET)
- Egg Freezing Storage: $900/year
- Patient Financing: Available through Lending Club Patient Solutions and CapexMD
- Specific package pricing is not published on the website; contact the hospital for current pricing.
Patient Journey
- Submit an online consultation request: New patient coordinators contact you within 1-2 business days to collect basic information and schedule a first appointment
- Initial consultation (1+ hour): A thorough session with a reproductive endocrinology specialist to review history, prior treatments, and fertility goals
- Fertility testing and diagnosis: Female fertility evaluation (hormone testing, ovarian reserve, ultrasound) and semen analysis at CRM’s own andrology lab; the practice says the initial evaluation typically completes within a single menstrual cycle, though not all tests happen on the same day
- Personalized treatment plan: Your doctor reviews all options (IUI, IVF, ICSI, PGT-A, donor egg, gestational carrier) and, combining evidence-based data with your values, helps you choose the right path
- Cycle treatment and monitoring: CRM provides monitoring 7 days a week (including weekends and holidays), with nurses and physicians coordinating stimulation, retrieval, embryo culture, and transfer
- Embryo culture and transfer: The lab team uses ICSI fertilization, PGT-A screening (when requested), and vitrification. Post-transfer pregnancy monitoring and follow-up support follow
Local Legal Framework
Minnesota law provides strong protection for reproductive rights. CRM participates with most major insurance networks: the CRM entity (diagnostics/monitoring/IUI) is typically covered by insurance, while the ART entity (IVF services) accepts partial reimbursement. Minnesota is highly inclusive of LGBTQ+ family building, and CRM explicitly welcomes patients of all sexual orientations and gender identities. Gestational surrogacy and egg donation are legally available in the state, supported by CRM’s dedicated programs.
